I love broadband.

The other day, i was at a clients and i had to install some software for him, but i'd left the CD at my office. i just had my secretary put the contents of the cd into a share folder and i dl'd it from clients location. took no more than 25 min to dl and it was done. SWEET. my clients place is like 60 miles from the office, so that 20 min was really sweet.

I love broadband.

I've got 1.5/128 cable here and I can't wait until I go to the dorms so I can actually run a server or something🙂

It's against the TOS to run a webserver here at Umich but I'm not sure about a game server - might be okay 🙂.

you and me both, buddy.
as soon as i found out about cable modems, i called my provider pretty much every week for almost a year to get it as soon as it was available. that was about... 6 years ago or so. i haven't had a computer with a modem since 😀

Anyone that complains about any form of cable is just a b!tch. who cares if someone has slightly faster service. broadband is broadband. anything over 640k is SWEET. and there is no point complaining about it.

Yeah your just a litte WRONG. I think the caps are bullsh*t. AT&T told me I can upload up to 128k a second, but they didn't tell me that each app can only send 30k a second, and before that it was only 15!!! Bastards. And the thing that REALLY bites as well is the fact that 15k is the limit when sending multiple streams! I'm happy with the download speed but the upload speeds offered are CRAP.

that doesn't go to show that i'm wrong. all it shows is ur unhappy with the speeds they are providing. truth is the industry is young and there really is no good way to judge price vs performance in this area. every broadband carrier is going to use his own standard until there is more competition. problem is DSL carriers are dropping the ball. cable carriers each get a monopoly in their respective "territories". unless DSL carriers can come around and offer a decent alternative. so far it hasn't worked out. but eventually it will and eventually, price vs performance will become standardized.

I still say that those that complain are just B!tches. if you don't like it, go back to your 56k. if ur not willing to do that then STFU.

We with crappy broadband have every right to complain about our broadband companies, when companies like Optimum Online provide extremely fast cable at extremely cheap prices. Then we get Comcast, which more expensive than OOL, and provides amazingly crappy speeds.

I'm on comcast. Optimum online is available in the neighborhood next to me but not here. so.

complain all you want, if you really don't like it leave.

the problem isn't comcast, the problem is Verizon. if Verizon offered a competitive DSL, then MB comcast would get their act together.

BUT on the other hand, if you ask me, they did a pretty good job of switching over from @ home to their own service.

I love my cable but it sure is flakey today and it seems to go down at random times, been down over 10 times today. Maybe I should email em and tell em I want a free month because this happens every stinkin day it seems like.
