No really, it's the user or inferior hardware's fault::roll:

I got three error dialog boxes yesterday when shutting down Windows XP SP2 (fully updated). All related to AcroRd32.exe not being able to close for one reason or another. Couldn't save a screen capture, but I did capture a screen of the results of "repairing" Adobe® Reader® 7.0.3. It insists on having "Speed Launch" run at startup, which was removed without a hitch on version 6. Version 7 did NOT install that startup file when it was first installed. I've allowed the startup program during the "repair", and Windows starts up and shuts down normally after a PDF file has been opened. I'll probably uninstall it, and revert to version 6 without the startup program...

I just save the pdf locally and open it. Much faster than actually opening in the browser.

I did something to make the program load in about 3 seconds. I forgot what it was...

Oh, and disable automatic updates because sometimes it checks for that while you're trying to view something in your browser, and takes forever.

Does your common startup have Adobe Acrobat SpeedLauncher loading? Without that, mine errors on the shutdown, if a PDF file has been opened. It works OK, as long as I leave it resident.

At first I was thinking it's not such a big deal to have that loading, but the more I think about it, the more it sucks. It's one thing to have antivirus and antispyware programs running at all times, but WTF should a flippin' document reader need to be resident all the time? What if every single program you might happen to use this week, required a file to load at startup everyday? Adobe needs to work on crap like that before they bother adding new frills and other BS.
