I love a good pair of tin snips

I probably abuse mine more than I should but damn are they helpful. Just moved into a new place and replaced some of the crappy appliances they had here. Water line in the way? Grab the tin snips. Can't quite maneuver the wire cutters to clip the wire? Grab the tin snips. Some asshole installed the clamp ring with the screw facing the wrong way and therefore nearly inaccessible? Fuck it - just grab the tin snips and cut the ring

Copper is about the same hardness as Gold, not much harder than Tin.

Still wouldn't for a pipe I wanted to connect to later.

Tin snips or aviation snips? Either way, both should cut through copper with nary a scratch.

Seems odd - I rarely use my tin snips - I rarely cut tin, and prefer aviation snips for most sheet metal cutting. (or my angle grinder) I have the proper tools for all the other things you mentioned. Heck, some, like pipe cutters, are relatively cheap. A good pair of side snips are probably more maneuverable than your tin snips.

Since most "tin" is actually tin-plated steel (or even galvanized steel nowadays)...I think the copper wire would be easier to cut than "tin."

i found through experience that cutting wire is much easier with actual notched wire cutters than it is with tin snips. true story.

It looks like Aviation snips would be the more appropriate name as tin snips are more scissory.

I agree, anything small that is 22 gauge or higher will be done with an air grinder or angle grinder.

I tend to break out the plasma cutter and go to town on larger items than that because its faster, less mess, no grinding wheel to replace, and it just is cool as shit.
