I would just like to share with you, my comrades, that I love 1600x1200. I got this 19" Sony G410 back in December and have been using 1280x960 because I was used to 1024x768 on a 17". Now that I have gotten used to the smaller text on 1280x960, it has been easy to adjust to 1600x1200. If you are running your 19" at 1280x960, try 1600x1200 for a day, then try to go back!
If you use 1280x1024, please kill yourself now.

i love mine 2560X1024

🙂

2560*1024

well i coudl do 3200x1200 if i wanted to so 😛

whats wrong with 1280x1024? I run it on my Samsung 955DF and it looks fine.
Things look out whack because of the disproportion aspect ratios of the screen size and resolution.

But try 1920x1200 on a 24"!! THAT'S SWEET.

<--- can't afford an FW900 🙁
Samsung's 240T supports that res, I think.

I think thats not on DVI but on d-sub only.

Also that 24" FW900 isn't a 24" its more like 22.5 viewabl1e instead😛. Too big on a desk! You must have a monster desk for it!

1920x1200 on a Sony 23" on DVI is good😀

See if I can hook my other 17" crt to it with the deskspace I have.

19" I run 1280x1024, 1600x1200 too small for me.
17" 1280x1024 is good.

I may try 1600x1200 on the 19" but my desk isn't big enough for a 23" and a 19" crt🙁

Not really... it's just slightly larger than a 21" monitor. It's purely my gaming monitor... i prefer the 1800FP for web browsing... i'll eventually pick up another 1800FP if i ever get a dual DVI card.

When you mean is only slightly larger hten a 21" monitor you mean by depth and physical size right? Yeah I'm only use to a 19" crt and that was big on my desk. I'll have a problem sticking a 21" in that gap. The vertical high may be too high to fit in. Also I spent the first year of Uni in halls and no way in hell could I stick the FW900 on my desk. I had to have an awkward angle with my 19". Not nice on the neck.

Well, for a desk it's pretty much only the depth is the important characteristic... and yeah, it's just slightly larger than the 2060u i had before it. Screensize though, i'll say it's about 30% bigger than a 21" monitor.

And if i was still in school, NO WAY IN HELL would i get this monitor. This thing is 96 lbs... now, 96lbs isn't a lot, but the way this is shape and the way it's distribute, makes it extremely hard to move around.

Doh! I've been using 19" for almost 4 yrs with 1600x1200 on my 19" E400 Sony Trinitron. Yupp.. i wont trade it with anything smaller except when i'm on my notebook.

I love 1600*1200. All that space, it's a pity my current video card can't do 1600*1200 properly (wavy lines even @85hz) so I switch back to my Voodoo5 when want to do some serious desktop work. Thankfully I have BNC cables going from my voodoo to the screen so it's only a few mouse clicks and a button press and I'm done.

I think I got temp banned, don't remember...

I'm running 1400x1050 on my laptop. I can't imagine going back to a lower res.

So now I run it at 1280X1024 which is perfect for me. Its all a matter of personal preference which resolution is better.

I have one that I run at 1280x960... I love it! 😀

Why are you running at 5:4 aspect?

Its not so much the height as its a widescreen but the width of the screen. Longer and it goes a bit further back. If I had a better desk I could just pull the desk further from the wall and the monitor back end stick out a bit.

Yeah I know what you mean about the weight. Its not so much but its the bulkyness and the awkward to handle it properly without the feeling its going to slip!

I used 1400x1050 on a Dell laptop for a while and got hooked. After playing with Powerstrip for a while, I managed to get my Samsung 955DF to run 1400x1050 at a resolution and refresh that was easier on the eyes than 1600x1200 is on that monitor. Anyway, the problem is, now I'm running dual 19" monitors, a Compaq P900 (thanks Hot Deals) and a Samsung 955DF. The P900 is on my GeForce2 card and the 955DF is on an old Voodoo 3 PCI card. At some point, Nvidia broke the ability to set custom resolutions in their GF2 drivers, so I can't force 1400x1050 on my GF2 and for some reason it won't work on the Voodoo 3 card either. If I could only get both of them set to 1400x1050, I would be happy. I'm running both at 1600x1200 right now, but my 955DF is pushed to it's absolute refresh rate limit to maintain that res and I'm afraid I'm gonna prematurely burn it out. 1400x1050 is a lot easier on it and the P900 of course can run an ungodly res at a high refresh rate anyway. I want my 1400x1050. If you haven't tried it and you think that 1024 or 1280 is too large and 1600 is too tiny, 1400 is right in the middle and is very nice on the eyes. Long live custom resolutions!

My ati Radeon never had the 1280x960 res option for me!
