BOSTON -- From the moment Mitt Romney stepped off stage Tuesday night, having just delivered a brief concession speech he wrote only that evening, the massive infrastructure surrounding his campaign quickly began to disassemble itself.

Aides taking cabs home late that night got rude awakenings when they found the credit cards linked to the campaign no longer worked.

So funny. I really can't imagine this guy in a crisis.

I kinda find this phrasing somewhat troubling:

(Outside Republicans and donors are another story. Some are angry over what they felt was an overly rosy picture painted by the campaign, and at what amounts to the loss of their investment.)

I don't think it should be viewed as an investment, something you're going to get back more than you gave in. I think it should be viewed as a donation where you don't expect something in return. it should be done to better the country not to get a return on.

I've heard it in regards to other stories too.

I was so pissed when my employer fired me and stopped paying me. I mean pick one or the other, but not both!

It's usually customary to return the employee home before firing them. I'm sure you'd be all right with going overseas for business, having your company fire you while you are there and cancel your return ticket?

How old are you? Money in politics is the whole problem in the first place; where virtually every bill congress passes is to hook up businesses/ppl who in turn contribute to congress/President elections. Really no bill that passes is populist these days.

Even Obama - he doesnt give a shit about your $20 tshirt purchase but the millions given by Goldman sacs and so on.

Silly, your talking about Republicans. It's never about what's good for the country. What's in it for me.

that's a douche move...

I would assume they had to set this up before hand since I don't think you could just call the credit card company at 2am and give them a list of card numbers to cancel.

Really? Did you come to that conclusion because of a secret video of Obama criticizing 47% of the country?

Did you you come to that conclusion from the fact that Obama received more donations from $200 or less than from big donors?

Did you come to they conclusion from the fact that Obama passed wall street reform?

Did you come to that conclusion from the fact that he passed the ACA which required insures to cover pre existing conditions and capped their administrative costs?

When I worked for a major oil company, we use to do that exact thing regularly.

I don't think so, think about it for a minute.

You fire someone and let them keep the company CC for another 24 hrs? What are they going to charge in that 24 hrs? You don't think these people went to expensive bars and restaurants afterward? What are you going to do if they charge up a bunch stuff, fire them again?

The aides can pay for the cab with their own CC and submit an expense report. If the campaign doesn't pay then that's a douche move.

But you don't leave CC out there in the hands of people you've effectively lost any semblance of control over.
