i lost regedit

you need to download it from MS

if my memory serves me, it does NOT come with Win, you need to go get it from their site. Its free tho. Happy hunting
 
Ya, it should come with all versions of Win9x and WinNT.

PS 3.1 doesn't even have a registry.😛
 
Lack of regedit is a major sign for some viruses, have you tried runnning msconfig? If you see a large amount of RUN= statements, or ones that seem like they are empty, you may have a virus.
 
Does the computer boot to windows? Safe mode? if it does, do a reinstall of windows, assuming u already took care of the virus.
 
If you have your install CD or media (c:\windows\options\cabs), extract it! "extract /a base4.cab regedit.exe"

this will search all the cab files and extract regedit for you. copy it to c:\windows and you're good to go.
