I lost my paycheck..what to do?

yep.. a 300$ school paycheck. and the way our town is... i am really afraid that someone will try to cash it. is there anything i can do? its sunday now and school wont be open till tomorrow.

Go and report the check lost. They'll put a stop payment on the check and charge you 20 or 30 bucks to do it, then issue you a new one. At least that's what happened to me when I lost a paycheck once...

i don't know if it's possible, but see if you can still put a stop on the check. if you can't call the school, see if you still have any of the previous checks, and then call up the bank that the school draws from. some banks let you put a stop on the school's behalf.

that is the problem. i dont know the bank name cuz i deposited all my previous checks..anyone heard of frost bank? i am not sure if that is the name of the bank.
oh yeah i was wondering if you can cash that big of check at all?

$300 isnt that much money, ive cashed a $10,000 check before, it took close to an hour but it got done.

You really have to contact your employer, call now and see if you can leave a message. They have to issue a stop-payment, you cannot do it yourself. If someone has cashed it already then a police report is in order, I would think.

Sure you can cash it, if you take it to your bank and have the funds in your account to cover it. Or take it to one of those check cashing places.

Bank of America will cash checks if you don't have an accout there. They'll make you put your thumb print on the back.

Just go to school and explain what happened. They'll give ya better advice then what us hooligans can give.

oh well see. i remember tryin to cash a personal check a few months back cuz my bank isnt open on weekends. and the max i could do was like 20$ at albertsons. they also required ID. oh well i hope no ones tries to cash it.

you can't just call your school and tell them you lost it and have them cancel the check? I know they have very strict records at schools, that's probably the best thing to do (besides finding the check of course! =P)

Banks are changing there ways, it probably won't be possible for him to cash it. At least at Wellsfargo. My roommate wanted me to cash a check for him. He signed it but they wouldn't let me cash the check without him there with photo ID.

i lost a big paycheck from the college i worked at. they didn't charge anything at all for the replacement.

the only reason i didn't get direct deposit was b/c i worked there for 1 month.
