I lost my BF1942 discs :-(

rudeguy

Lifer
Through a series of moves, I have my BF1942 discs. I still have the software installed and I have a valid serial, just no discs. Is there any way to play legally? I know there are no cd cracks, but last I knew you couldn't play online using those.

Any help would be appreciated.

Legal? I don't think so. Maybe contact EA, but you'd probably regret it. Morally? There's plenty of options.

That's what I was thinking. I still have my warez skills, I just prefer not to use them anymore.

I don't think it'd hurt anybody if you'd try finding a mini-image of it? You'd only need to mount it and voila, no need to crack anything since the software and the CD-Key is legal, with a mini-image you'll be able to play on-line as well, I do it myself for my Battlefield 2, since even though I own it and everything is legal the DVD is not being recognized and it asks for it to be inserted, even though it is inside the DVD drive, it's just a SecuROM issue that has never been resolved other than using a mini-image which in that case I made myself.

BF '42 has to be dirt cheap these days. You could've gone to wal-mart and gotten a copy of it with all the time it has taken peeps to respond to this thread.

if you break your car but you still have your keys, you don't get your car back, you just have useless keys =)

I've lost many of my favorite games over the years, but I haven't since i put them all in a huge CD binder

I know that I can get another set of discs dirt cheap. This is one thing that I actually like about Steam games. I lose everything, so having them keep track of things for me is nice.

If you have the serial and paid for the game I see no ethical issue with just torrenting the necessary files. I'm no lawyer, but I am fairly sure it is legal as well. Just as torrenting a backup copy of a DVD you purchased is legal.

Ding Ding.

I don't know if its technically legal, but it is the smartest no brainer method. You own it, you have a valid serial...you just need the files.

OK, thanks guys.

If MS is any indication this is an ok practice. They offer CD/DVD copies of most of their software for just shipping costs ($10 or so) as long as you have a valid serial. It's all about those 16 or whatever digits that gives you the right to use the software. I say get the files, use your legal serial, and get back to playing.

Still, either way, we're not talking about a $50 game here.

If you feel morally objected to downloading the game, pony up $10 and get the complete collection (http://www.amazon.com/Battlefi...qid=1228538525&sr=8-1).
Otherwise, just download the game.

Although, you may have problems playing online if you don't have the legitimate disc in the drive... at least that's how it works with most modern games.

Its a combination of knowing that I SHOULD have the disc and not being able to play online. If I could directly download all those games for $10 legally, that would be perfect.

Maybe I can find a deal on some slippers at Amazon and add the BF pack so I don't feel totally hosed.

Thanks again guys.

I like how the pack at the bottom that includes all the BF games has BF1942, BF2, BF2142, but skips BF:Vietnam.

That was such the bastard child of the BF series. Haha. I played it a lot too, then BF2 came out and it ran BETTER on the same hardware... looked better too. It was like a big kick in the nuts to people who had paid for and played BF:V.

This is a good idea. I can do what I have to do while I am waiting for the discs.

I know its an old game, but I still love to play BF. It has a certain place in my

I found it on Walmart's site for the same price as Amazon, but only $2 shipping. I spent all morning trying to get no cd's patches working and got flustered. I can wait 4 days to be legit again.

I bought it and hated it. Couldn't figure out how to play it properly. I'll swap you the complete collection set for a different older game. I'm looking to play some older titles.

I already ordered it 🙁
