We have a thread for this sort of thing, it Jesus's thread; you've probably never heard of it.

Is it funny, yes, but there's much more bad-ass stuff in Hume that doesn't get its own thread.

is that a coffee cup?

Ah, you Americans are unaware of the great March tradition of Roll Up The Rim. Tim Hortons runs it. You turn up the rim of your cup and there are various prizes underneath. I'm pretty sure 90% of the winners are "free coffee", the other 10% are free doughnut. While 99% of the cups in general are "please play again". Nobody ever seems to win the grand prizes. :\

You can even win a free coffee off a free coffee that you won off another coffee. Winception FTW. I wonder what the record is for this.

Last time they had this, I was 1 or 2 for 10.

I'm about 50% this time around. I've got 2 free coffees sitting in my wallet, ontop of the 5 or so I've already claimed, and 1 free donut!

How does that work since the rim is where you need to drink it from and it sounds like a issue when you wreck the entire rim looking for if you won or not before drinking and make it that much harder.

You do it after you're done drinking it. Though some people can't help themselves and do it right away, so they just make sure to drink on the other side.

Sometimes people toss them without rolling, I always check if I see one on the ground or in the garbage. Hey, you never know, it could be the car.

Don't lump us all together. We have Tim's in Maine!

Of course, I was unaware of this promotion, but still...

Wouldn't you be rolling out a piece of the cup rim where people could had been drinking from or is the roll part some kind of special thing that is not actual part of the cup rim?

South Quebec, at least in the summer. There's a Hannaford (supermarket) in my town that's predominantly French-speaking in the summer.

My dad was showing me some pics from his friend's trip to Nova Scotia last summer. I told him I'd already seen all that, in the mid-coast of Maine.

Hell, our highway signs are marked in Miles and Kilometers.

Normally you can tell by where the top opening is. If the opening is not in that area it's safe to assume nobody drinked from the roll up part. You only need to roll a small section where the arrow is, usually the first word to pop out is "again" and you know you did not win. I have it down to a science.

Are you a member of the funny police, deciding which topics merit their own threads and which go where?

I'd like to see the criteria you use to make such evaluations so I don't go afoul of your moderation.

I think everyone else got that I was being funny...

So yea, I'll police this thread: you lack a sense of humor when it comes to my sardonic posts.

+internet for you.

Yeah we have them in Ohio too.

Too bad I don't really like their coffee. Their donuts, otoh, are quite tasty. :) (and bagels)

I never pay much attention to Tim though, so I only know about the Roll Up To Win promo when I see ads or commercials for it.
