I loled: Dodge Durango towing commercial

Why were the rear wheels on the Ford turning and the front's locked? Something is amiss.

You're probably seeing the traction control and AWD system freaking out when it can't figure out what's going on. The car being dragged backwards is not something that it's probably programmed to deal with.

This commercial markets to small minded idiots. Which is right on target considering Chrysler/Dodge makes the crappiest vehicles on the planet.

That love I'm feelin it! All of dodge's marketing is tailored toward people with self esteem issues, though.

i dont think tug of war tests ever really prove anything
It might be a retarded commercial and the Durango might be a piece of crap, but if you're thinking about towing a boat or camper up an incline this commercial might grab your attention.

Every Truck Manufacturer emphasizes Towing capacity, this just kinda puts the kibosh on the Competition for this segment.

Its easy, they used a FWD car vs a AWD/RWD car and when the ford started to get pulled they did not floor it, if it did you would see the wheels spinning.

If they kept the Traction Control system on, then the first car to loose traction loses since the car will cut power to the engine.

the car ('car' being an important term- that's a unibody volvo with a weak V6 they're comparing themselves to) expects you to slide backwards...or spin forwards...but not spin forward while sliding backward (while on level ground, no less). i'd bet it loses its mind pretty good. maybe ford will issue a reflash that just spells out 'you're retarded' in the message center in you happen to find yourself in this predicament.

The Dodge tows more than the competition, why not show what it can do? 7400lbs towing for a unibody SUV is extremely good (V8).

oh, so the dodge is unibody now too? surely a RWD-based platform, though, right?

it just seems like an unfair comparison. if the price and options are the same and towing is a priority, then the commercial makes sense. but you still might as well compare a silverado to a taurus, otherwise.

Explorer, 28mpg highway with the 2.0T, 25 with the V6.

Explorer sold 2X Durango in July.

Enough said in today's world.

The commercial is funny though.

What's amiss? FWD on the Explorer, rear wheels not engaged by anything, so they're turning backwards like any FWD vehicle's would when pulled backwards. The front wheels, while appearing locked, are trying to turn forward but unable to because the whole vehicle is being pulled backward and traction control. And the Ford's engine is being completely overwhelmed by its lack of power by the Dodge.

And I'd still take the Explorer hands down. Dodge should really just change their name to Dodgy at this point.
