Here in Texas, if you don't have insurance, cops take your car. Maybe your license, too.
Depends on where you are at in Texas in terms of them towing the car. Its up to cities on whether or not to tow cars for driving without insurance. And Police cant take your license, but the DPS can revoke it if you have to many points.
In some cities in Texas its about $1000 in fees, fines, and surcharges before you can get your car back. In others they don't tow and if you get insurance before appearance date, its typically dismissed(if its first citation for no ins) and the resulting fine is small + court costs.
