I literally had to take a hint from a news article

🙁
I thought using computers and tech made you young.
We are now the old generation with our AOL Instant Messager, dial-up modems and floppy disks.

lol

Around the world, 1.49 billion people are using the social network monthly. That's a treasure trove of data to dig into.
I wonder if that means they're counting every language. Most probably don't have an equivalent for Lol, I know all the crazy Spanish people that seem to pop up everywhere on Facebook games say JAJAJAJ all the time and nothing else.

I guess my sig brands me pretty well then. I've had it since the Fusetalk switch, I guess AT was just ahead of the curve.

That, or the mods/admins are just lazy...

So we're not doing what the Facebook generation is doing? Not sure if that's something I'll ever be upset about.

I typed haha when I was in highschool 15 years ago, too. After viewing one too many cringe worthy text conversations, I can only see "haha" as nervous laughter of some dweeb conducting an embarrassment of a conversation with his dream girl. The only time it's acceptable to type now is when the laughter is real and it's followed by at least 2 more sets of "haha".

Also, making a happy face is an emoticon. Not an emoji. Kids these days thinking Apple invented everything...

So I got to the part where they said:

The classic Internet slang term, which stands for "laugh out loud," has been replaced by "haha," laughing emojis, and "hehe"

and got so embarrassed for humanity I had to stop reading. Being concerned for even a nanosecond whether "lol", "haha", or "hehe" is the most common way to express mirth is just stupid.

in italian people say lol or asd (which is just 3 letters that are always under your left hand so it's easy to write, funny how it came to mean lol).

These are only used by nerds though. Everybody else writes haha or whatever.
I believe this applies to most non-anglophone countries.

lol stopped meaning laugh about 15 years ago. to me, it's more of an insult, "i deride what you typed".

on my shores, laughing is huehuahuahuehuahuehuahue (hue)
