You misunderstand, as a user I liked VBulletin, it worked and it allowed for clearly superior square avatars, and so far this looks like actual ass. Granted this is 100% stock and refinements will come and VBulletin was apparently terrible from a management perspective, so I can understand why they wanted to change. The thing is though, most of us are old and liked our old forum just fine, those kids and their like buttons can go play in traffic.
 
Speed is nice, the layout and other things need work.

The thing is vb4/5 are both inferior products to XF. As an ex-forum owner who ran a pretty busy writing forum, upgrading to VB4 just sucked, and 5 was out of the question. 3 was definitely a sweet spot for light-weight and functionality, but lacked all of the modern features you need these days, especially wrt mobile viewing.

XF has overtaken VB and IPB I think quite clearly, in terms of the base product.
 
As long as things keep being refined, I like it, but I'm one of those weirdos that likes WIN X updates.

Things have been progressing all day.

The glaring white thing is still a work in progress it looks, I'd still like something toned down that isn't black myself.

One extreme to the other is too much.
 
Truly pathetic and ugly.. Severely lacking in visual appeal.. Give us some skins at least..
 
Although the site layout leaves a lot to be desired; this place is still better than the other forum I joined yesterday.

The speed is terrible. All the js causes stutters on my phone, and it takes forever to finalize as the content reflows on the screen. I also suspect I'm using a lot more data. ublock isn't working, so I can't easily block all the nonsense. I'll probably spend a lot less time here, since the experience on a phone is terrible.

Do you have root? The forums look and work okay on my phone with AdAway.

Yea, I'm rooted. I did get ublock going. Old AT cosmetic filters were screwing up the system. I primarily use adaway for blocking ads, and use ublock for cosmetic blocking. When I get some time on a desktop, I'll see what I can do in stylish. In the meantime, I'll see what I can do with blocking tools on firefox(android).
 
Instead of having the theme just reflow for mobile, there really should be a dedicated light weight mobile theme that is automatically picked up.

One size does not, as yet, fit all.
 
Agreed.. Being a desktop user, I didn't think about that. This has got to be playing hell on phones.. Come on Anandtech. Get your sh*t together. Participation will suffer.
