I like Sonic, but this is ridiculous.

Its ok. They make decent burgers and have good slushies. Its nothing to get too excited about, unless you're some kind of fast food junkie.

My wife (southerner) was always bragging them up. On our recent trip we stopped at two.

Sonic1: Standard Drive-In only place. After 600+ miles of driving, not the type of place you want to go, who wants to eat in their car. No restrooms. No place to eat outside. Went somewhere else.

Sonic2: Eat in only. What a shit hole. Meal was a solid "meh". No free drink refills. Staff was annoying. Dead Flies everywhere.

My wife now doesn't say shit about them. Pretty much every place south of Nebraska sucked balls.

Are you surprised? 😀

Oh they all have restrooms alright. You might need a tetanus shot just from LOOKING at one though.

The "closest" Sonic to where I live/work is pretty convenient, and well, I like lime slushes and my wife likes their reese's blasts. But man, I don't know what the hell is up with this particular Sonic!

#1 - They nearly ALWAYS get our order wrong. Usually they forget something - an order of fries, a burger, etc. They always TAKE the order correctly, it's always on the receipt, we always pay the amount for the whole order. What's worse is that usually the item in question is never even MADE.

#2 - The service is sooo god damn slow! It takes usually about 20-30 minutes AFTER putting in the order to get your food. Not to mention the 5 or so minutes after pushing the button before someone actually takes your order.

#3 - A week or so ago, I head out to get a little treat for my wife and myself. Hot summer night... ice cream, be it fake or not, is on tap. I get there, start putting in my order, about half way through it the lackey on the other end interrupts me and says, "We don't have any ice cream." What? "Our machine is broke." Seriously?

#4 - My wife wanted to take the kids for a cool treat yesterday after being dragged around town for doctors' appointments and such. She goes, hey, it's happy hour there, half price drinks and slushes! "Sorry, the machine isn't working."

This has got to be by far the worst run Sonic I've ever been to. Ever.

so instead of bitching at us, copy your OP and send it to the owner or sonic INC.

Sonic is terrible period. Whataburger is where it's at man.

Only disadvantage with Whataburger is if you go inside, you have to watch all those pathetic looking restaurant workers do their thing as you wait on your food. At least the car hops at Sonic seems a bit happy with their job, since they'll get tips.

But yes, Whataburger is vastly superior in terms of burgers. There is a small local chain called "Chaps" which is much better though. Their burgers are made with Nolan Ryan beef!

That's pretty bad, OP.

But like many restaurants, the quality depends on the management.

Where I went to college there were two Sonics on each side of town. One was freaking AMAZING and the other was absolutely terrible.

Sonic has been hit-and-miss for me as well, pretty much in the exact way mentioned here. The first time one of them gave slushies that tasted like watery syrup and soggy fries, and the second time we waited ~20 minutes just for some slushie/shake drinks, just for them to say "Sorry, the machine is broken". Another Sonic a little further out is fine, though; you can order 10+ burgers for the whole family, and fries and treats to go along with them, and get everything within ~7 minutes. Their burgers still aren't great even by fast food chain standards, though.

I blame the fact that they are completely secluded from the customer aside from the rollerskate girl. Who knows what goes on in that little shack.

I did.

Literal... as in not figurative or for illustrative purposes. Is it really that hard to understand?

Sure, and then you said "pretty much"... so it's literally pretty much the right time? That's like being "kind of" pregnant.

OP, your post reminded me of when I lived in Oxnard, CA. It's home to the slowest Mickey Dees in the universe. It regularly took at least 10 minutes to get a soda and nothing else with less than 10 customers in the store.

Heard a list of, Restaurant Chains likely to fail soon, recently and am pretty sure Sonic was on there, along with Denny's. No one will miss Denny's, especially due to their attempt to kill you on your Birthday each year. Only ate at Sonic once, best part of the burger I ordered was that they didn't skimp on the jalapenos, other than that there was nothing notable about the burger.

Any of you guys have the Sonics with the sand volleyball courts next to them? I can remember many Summer days of my youth spent playing volleyball at Sonic. Thirsty? Just walk 5 feet over to the speaker and order up a drink. They were open until midnight (lighted courts) during the Summer, too. So, we would often stay and play until then....Good times.

Love Sonic ice (people around here buy it by the bagful), but the secret is to tell them "easy ice" on the drinks. If you don't, your Route 44 will have about 38 oz. of ice in it.

Sonic has gotten expensive, but I will always associate it with fond memories of playing volleyball. Pretty good marketing idea; kind of like McDonald's play area making kids have positive memories of Micky D's...

I've always avoided playing volleyball that the Sonic because I thought it was lame and the park would be better. I never thought about the drinks. HOW COULD I HAVE BEEN SUCH A FOOL?!?!?

I was in TX one summer and also had to go through some absolutely atrocious wait times at the drive through one night. 20-30 minutes sounds just about right.

Ours always cheats on the cherry limeades, they put some cherries in a sprite. I used to call them on it and request it made the way it is supposed to be with real limeade but it got too inconvenient as it took too much time.

I don't think they meant the the chain itself. I am pretty sure they meant Sonic franchisees are at a higher risk of failing than franchisees of other restaurants.

Submitted a complaint online. Had an email response within about 45 minutes, and a phone call about half an hour later. Apparently they give a shit.

I've had this experience with almost every chain.
There's always that one Sonic, McD's. Wendys, BK, Chilis, etc in town that just seems to suck year after year. They can change management, change all the employees, demolish and rebuild and it's still the worst one in town. (And it's not a case of the bad ones being in a crappy part of town.)

they probably were having a sex orgy in there. Quit interrupting other people's sex lives with your crave for fast food.
