I like remasters

Super Mario All-Stars for SNES wasn't bad at all.

I was really glad they remastered Ico and Shadow of the Colossus for PS3, though I wish they would have done more than just increasing the resolution and draw distance (higher Rez textures and models would have been nice). At least it's a nicer version of the game and it's easier to appreciate in high-resolution.

Yeah, but to be fair, SMAS was four games all in one. All remastered. At a discounted price.

Ico + SotC was also discounted. So it's technically: "Every Team Ico game ever made in 10+ years!" (they've still only released 2 games...ever) 🙂

i hate them. i simply won't support them for the most part because i hate the whole idea of double dipping. the only way i would consider it is buying a game used so that the dev sees not a penny of my money.

Exactly. I'd rather not pay $60 for the next-gen remake when I can get the original version for $8.

Is GOW 3 remaster worth the $40, if you've never played it on PS3. Also does anyone know if it has a fixed camera? I prefer this to having to fight with both thumb sticks.

Hard to make that call. I think it's a horrible deal, as it's just a revamped version of a nearly decade-old game you can get quite cheaply. Shoot, you could probably get the original Gears and a low-end 360 for close to the price of the Ultimate Edition, haha.

The camera angle's not fixed, though.

I had forgotten about Gears of War. I should have been more clear that I'm referring to God of War 3.

Oh, well I don't know about it's camera, though it's kind of the same story with just being and older game with an overpriced graphics boost.

yes camera in god of war is fixed the entire game.

is it worth $40 to you? if so buy it, if not don't. we can't tell you how much it is worth to you. i bought it day 1 on ps3 so it's obviously not worth it to me to pay $40 for a game i own on ps3.

I like them too. I essentially skipped the xbox360 and all the Halos that were released on it. The Master Chief collection let me catch up without having to buy one, so now I'm ready for Halo 5. I ended up replaying through the first two Halos as well because it had been a decade since I last played them. For my specific situation I can't think of a better solution than re-releasing them on xbox one.

Other times it doesn't seem as worth it. I bought the remastered edition of Homeworld that gearbox did. The games were fun to play through again, but I wasn't super impressed with the quality of the remastering. My main hope is that maybe they are testing the waters for a possible sequel. I'd love that.

I would say it's worth $40 for someone who doesn't have a PS3. I think it looks a bit cleaner and runs at 60fps now.
