Yes, Unreal was amazing. One of the most underrated FPS games of all time.
It blew the sh*t out of Quake 2 and most other contemporary shooters of the time not named Half Life.
- Best graphics of any game at the time
- Huge, open, varied levels and architecture
- Unique and varied weapons
- GREAT atmosphere (story, character designs, art)
...
and last but not least, some of the absolute BEST music and sound in any game, EVER. Seriously, the Unreal OST is a must listen.
It always saddens me when folks mention what a great game Unreal was, and the response is usually, "Hell yeah! UT was awesome!"
It's sad it only got one, true, mediocre sequel. But I simply don't trust that a major studio would do it justice, or even come close really, today.
