I like pie

Pie nef threads are always about dessert pies like apple and blueberry, we need to talk about savory pies for once. Where's the love for chicken pot pie and turkey pie?

If it has a crust, it is pie. Cheesecake has crust, therefore it is a pie. The confusion only arises because of the name. The name is a lie; the "cake" is a pie.

This is an issue I have always felt very strongly about. I really wish all sides could come to the table like true adults, and agree that cheesecake is indeed cake.
 
No love for cherry pie?

Cherry pie + crumbs. 🙂

There was one place back home, a stand at a farmers' market, that made the best ones. They used real lard in their pie crusts. Other places used shortening, and their cherry filling was out of a can, which apparently was about 70% red dye.

50/50 butter/lard works well. Cherry/almond pie with a layer of almond pie filling on the bottom and a layer of cherries on top is awesome*. Cherry/almond/cream cheese pie is quite good as well.















* Too late for you, I already married her.
