Sure it is. If it wasn't people wouldn't have spent the last few hundred years selectively breeding it. By the way, did you know that broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and Brussel's sprouts are all cultivars of the same species? Each little locale in Europe each selectively bred different varieties of the same species that they preferred, and after centuries we ended up with several different vegetables.
