I'm sure the minimum safety requirement for these things is not to accidentally burn down your house. This might be slightly offset by the made in china sticker.

Unless you bought it in Mexico or something all coffee makers sold in the US have some sort of temperature cut off device.

My friend left a glass lid on a burner he though was off and it exploded. Glass was everywhere, there were even some that got lodged into the wall.

i think you'll be fine. at worst case, the pot might be cracked and the coffee will have spilled, but otherwise nothing too major.

if there's no auto-shut off, it will likely ruin the pot but I can't imagine it burning your house down.
