I know this is beat to death, but how's my temps?

Room temp, ~24c
Idle CPU temp, 29c
10 hours of full load CPU temp, 50c
Mainboard full load, 23c

Shuttle AK31 r3.1 bios rev ef, athlonXP 1600+ @ 142fsb, 1.78volts consistant

CPU being cooled by a regular Thermaltake 6CU w/ heatsink compound (regular) and stock 60mm 5000rpm (~4800rpm)

antec sx1040 case with 2 intake fans, enermax psu with 2 fans, 2 exhaust fans, cpu hsf, chipset fan in stock form, gf3 ti200 with stock cooling and 92mm fan blowing over it

still pretty quiet believe it or not heh

50c full load? Pick up an SK-6.. I have an xp 1700+ @ 1600 (1.78 vcore) running at 37 full load, with my sk-6, 38 cfm delta, and as2. (I have an ak31 too, so our temps are comparable)

well.... you're pullin 50C because of your volcano

if you can live with 50C.... ok.. but i would like to have a lot cooler cpu...

how must noise can you handle?? delta...??

i'd rather not have a LOUD fan, how about an alpha 8045 and can you suggest a better cooling fan that isn't ultra loud?

hmmmm, i also have the volcano 6 cu on my 1800+ but my temps are 42C idle and about 46C load. with system temp at 32c. no oc of anykind nor voltage changes.

I wish my temps were this low but hiding it under a desk with no fans isn't too helpful for temps, heh. Your temps are still lower than main (same everything) and mine runs just fine at 51C idle.

Most probably due to non-proper contact between the CPU & HSF. The variance in f/load between case temp & CPU temp should not be tht high. Even w/ cu6+. Ur general temp should be in the 35-40C.

Check tht seating again.

OverDose, I dont think that the Alpha will easily fit on your board. I was in another discussion earlier about it. A guy says that he has one on his but he had to be really carefull about some of the components that the lugs may break. I would say go for the SK-6. It has some rave reviews here and you can fit an 80mm fan which will be much quieter. Do a search, A guy posted pics of his with an 80. Of also search for something called a heatpipe, supposed to be very goos as well.

The reason my idle temp is so different from my load temp is that i'm using that register hack to enable the HALT on the processor under idle, I rebuilt my computer a little while ago to clean up the pre-existing clusterf**k in there and I removed the HSF from the chipset and got rid of that adhesive CRAP shuttle put on there, put down a nice thin layer of heatsink compound and put the chipset HSF back on, also removed the processor and HSF on it to clean both surfaces off with rubbing alcohol and reinstalled

now my temps are 18c mainboard and 25.5c idle/46c 30 minutes of full load

descent, but i'm also moving to a 1800+ this week and I think i'm going to pair it with a nice SK-6 and a 80mm fan, can someone recommend a QUIET descent performing 80mm solution?

Also, do I need to buy clips for the SK-6 to accomodate a 80mm fan?

Hmm, man i havent been up to date with overclocking, but isnt 40C like 100F. That seems way to hot. Reason i ask is cause i just set up a 1700 xp on soyo dragon+ with a volacano 6cu+, and i get about 40C with no case fans installed. I thought i messed up on thermal paste thingy part, was about to order the artic silver stuff and redo it. But from reading this post, my readings seem to be normal. I know the temperature moniter is not accurate but 40C(100F) seems Really dam hot. Last computer i overclocked was a celeron 300a to 450, and that thing was below 90F at full load, with no cpu fan(lots of case fans tho) And all of you arent worried about the 100F plus temps. Did i miss something here, are they making very heat resistant cpu nowdays, or is it cause computer prices are so cheap that people dont care if there cpu dies faster. Or is it the fact that the temperature readings are off by 10-20 degrees. Regardless, i'm just wondering given that my celeron gave out below 90F way back when with the same inaccurate monitoring, why arent u peps worried.

Hehe well actually thinking about it, the celeron temperates might have been not been cpu temperatures, but i think the abit that i had, had cpu temperature in bios.

Well I just want to know what is a safe range. I dont want to overclock, cause its already dam fast, and i aint compiling zillion line codes, so 1.5, 1.6, 1.7mhz same crap in my book.

P.S. Is it me, or is there like too many dam fans on your computer, geforce has a fan, motherboard fan to cool something forgot what, cpufan. Man i think this sucker is going to suck up lots of electricy, thank god theres no energy crisis.
