I know it's popular to bash suvs, but what other vehicles deserve the same rage/bashing?

Ok so we don't need suvs, do we need sports cars? Do we need euro sedans that get meh mileage? Where does the madness end and how does one decide they are superior? You can always drive something more efficient. I think the same group who bashes suvs should really be fair about it and apply the same mentality to other, inefficient vehicles.

The same thing could apply to other items, do you really need that dual/quad-core pc? Do you really need that hdtv? They bs could go on and on forever.

I'd say things like Ferraris because they get worse gas mileage than most SUVs. There's just not very many of them. But personally, I'd like to bash people that have large families for contributing to the need for much more power. After all, those kids are going to grow up and each need all the things you use. Including food, cars, electricity, water...


...and as far as the HDTV wasting power, of the three TVs in my house, the HDTV is probably the one that needs the least power. (19"CRT, 27" CRT HDTV-monitor, 20" LCD HDTV)
 
OP, you might as well start a campaign to cancel NASCAR and F1 racing... I'm sure that those cars don't do so well on fuel.

I think you guys are getting the wrong idea, I don't care what people drive. I am trying to get some consistency out of the suv bashing crowd.

i want to see a total energy balance on a prius vs other compact car... i bet that the Prius uses more energy overall to manufacture it and drive it for say, 100,000 miles than most other small cars.

Well since someone did a study on it and determined that it consumed more energy than a Hummer H2 from conception to destruction over a 100K lifespan...I'd assume any small car would blow it out of the water.

That was a paper written by a student and it turned out to be junk science. Stuff like he assumed the Hummer would last 300k miles, and that the Prius would last 100k.

I was just responding to the Hummer H2 thing. I wouldn't be surprised if a Prius is worse environmentally than a Civic
