To clean EVERYTHING.

Even though I want to go to sleep, I've got the itch, and I gotta scratch it.

Pisses my housemates off. They go to bed 4 hours before I do. I wake them up at 2am in fits of cleaning.

Now that I'm in an apartment, that's sort of my own (a campus apartment), I sort of feel strangely compelled to clean it. I've never been a neat-freak, but now I almost can feel it. It's wierd.
I speak mainly of vacuuming though when I think of "cleaning" things.
I still have a lot of clutter everywhere - I hate putting things away, because then I just have to get up, go find what I need, bring it somewhere else, use it, and then put it back, only to find that I'm still not done with it, so I go get it again. Gets to the point were I don't put many things away, they just stay in the general area where they're used most frequently.

Are you going to stand in front of the kitchen sink and clean your hands for a good hour?

I work FT and go to school FT. The night time is when I get everything done. For example, I just replaced the Driver's Side Mirror on my car about an hour ago, which would put the time at 2:10AM EST.

a few weeks ago i got the urge to clean the stovetop at 2am (after making a grilled cheese)

spent 45 minutes scrubbing the area around one of the four burners before loosing the urge and going to bed

that one burner is still really clean though!

I get on a cleaning high until everything is spotless, but not at the absurd times you mention.

I get that too. I suddenly get frustrated that there's crap everywhere and I can't sleep until I clean it all up. My neighbors probably don't appreciate it.

I can say i've NEVER in my life ever found cleaning pleasurable.
