Man, you're totally right. And you know what else? I can't believe anyone ever liked Everquest. The controls are so clunky! WoW is so much better.

PSX games in general dont seem to hold up as well over time as the 8bit and 16bit games.

That's because 2D was pretty much perfected by time the 16-bit generation ended and PSX games were first-gen 3D. Heck, 3D is no where near perfected at this point. We have a long way to go.

Gunplay in MGS1 is non-existent. Don't go there unless it's a boss fight. The sneaking is pretty basic but you have to do it in MGS1 unlike other MGS games. Did you get past the helipad and into the compound? Usually people rant about the shittiness of the game and never get past the first 2 areas. You'll see why it gets such rave reviews once you encounter some bosses.

I heard The Twin Snakes was better. And, yeah, I hated MGS1 when I first played it on the PS1. It was marginally better on the PC, but I definitely didn't get the hype. Ditto for 2 and 3. Now I'm too scared to play MGS4, because I don't know what happened in the first three, and the database is _inscrutable_.

MGS was the bomb. The only thing that games these days have is 3D view. Personally, I'd rather go back to the overhead type view of the first MGS.

MGS oozes personality. That's something very few games get right.

Oh yea, and have you guys played Super Mario Brothers? Because I just played it for the first time and I cannot believe how overhyped it is! Movement is so awkward, there is no voice acting or cutscenes, the princess is always in another castle, I mean wtf so cheesy!

Actually even today the old NES SMB games hold up better than MGS does, in my eyes.

Agreed, it's hard to beat SMB. That's a bad example

I love the MGS series. It's not for everyone. Simple as that. The twists and turns in the story is always what gets me.
