Close-up bug photography is crazy awesome. A friend of mine (Mrvile) used to do some, his pics were pretty cool too. The first pic in this series is especially freaky...

Some might look for movement, others would look for differences in lighting.
And they're just better to help hunting spiders zero in on prey that they might have to leap on and rassle with.
