I knew Newegg having UPS was bad, but this is just wrong...

one time i bought controll arms for my car. they cost $300, and this is something that it is really important to keep safe during transit, they basically hold the wheels onto the car. so, i get the box from fedex. the controll arms are sticking out of large tears in the sides of the box, one of them is bent, the box is lopsided and sort of flat. it was the most rediculous thing i had ever seen.

arghhhhhhhhhhhh....

first) You (and others) are implying FedEx is sooooooo much better. That's the general assumption. In reality i got "bad" packages from BOTH, UPS and FedEx. I got screwed up routing from BOTH, FedEx and UPS.

second) I work in a distribution center where there is shipping and receiving. Comparable to something like UPS...even on a much smaller scale than UPS.

Still...we're handling hundreds/thousands of shipments a DAY. I see UPS and FedEx trucks pulling in and out constantly.
I see misrouted packages ONCE in a while - packages get damaged ONCE IN A WHILE. What do you expect...say how many thousands and thousands of packages a company like UPS handles every freakin' day ?

DUH ! Bad if you're the unlucky guy getting this ONE of hundreds of packages which is damaged because it fell behind a skid or wash smashed below a 200lbs box. This things HAPPEN.

I am sorry for you and freaking out is understandable because its what YOU ordered - but the more realistic approach would be just to assume that those things can happen...then RMA and file a complain and whatsoever and THEN rave on teh intarnet if you run into problems eg. with returning an unit which was damaged in shipping.

I think you would NOT have a problem returning it since it is obviously UPSs fault.

Edit: Actually once a package from newegg ended up in our company with a totally different address. I could *literally* see the poor guy waiting for some parts he ordered from newegg and waiting......if he only knew 😉
Anyway i took the package and put it back to the dock where the next truck would pick up the misrouted packages and he hopefully got whatever he ordered.

All I can say is yes I too think UPS sucks!

However reguardless Neweggs customer service is still the best! If you call and talk with a rep with a cool head the issue will be resolved to your satisfaction. (Has been for me anyways)

I dont care what anyone says Ive been dealing with newegg since they opened and no one has came close to there kick ass customer service!

Good Luck!

yea, a LOT of people have issues with FedEx.

my fathers company will NOT ship via fedex because they break all kinds of crap, while UPS does not.
(toilets, sinks, etc)

its SOMETIMES the shipper's fault (wrong handling) - but OFTEN the customer's.
It's frickin' amazing...i see $50k++ units, servers, etc. shipped to us from countries noone knew they even exist without ANY packing materials or whatsoever.

Like ....take your PC and put it in a plain cardboard box and send it off to Europe..and then act extremely upset and surprised when it arrives broken 😉

The best thing is if we get a huge box which is cramped filled with boards or similiar....no individual packaging, not to mention static bags or whatsoever 😉
I wonder if they used a pitchfork to load them in the box. Also, mind you every single unit/board there is about $5k value......see something like that all the time.

I love the ANTI UPS threads.. There is nothing good about that company, and I whole heartedly wish for their demise.

I've received my fair share of over priced and beaten up packages from them... If it is being shipped UPS with no other option, I just won't buy the item. Simple as that. I hate UPS entirely!

Another reason why UPS sucks:

Shipped by Newegg via UPS 3-Day on 3/1.
Arrived in local distro center on 3/2.
Sat in distro center on 3/3 just because.
Will be delivered on 3/6.

Why Fedex is better:

Shipped by me to Newegg via Fedex Ground (5 day) on 3/2
Arrived in Newegg's local distro center on 3/3.
Will NOT sit in that distro center on 3/6.
Will be delivered on 3/6.

Conclusion:

Fedex Ground (5 day) faster than UPS 3-Day.
Fedex Ground (5 day) costs less than UPS 3-Day.
Fedex Ground (5 day) is better than UPS 3-Day.
Newegg does not have an option for Fedex Ground.
Newegg does have an option for Fedex Express (3 Day) or UPS 3-Day.
Fedex Ground (5 day) costs less than either of the 2 above.
Newegg charges sales tax in CA. (not their fault on this one)
Great business opportunity for someone who wants to sell to CA's 30+ mil.

------------------------------

Yes I am closer to Newegg than the TN warehouse is to me. But, it still did not have to sit in Sacramento today. I could have my new graphics card TODAY. But UPS is probably running it over with their truck as I am typing this.

Hell yeah they are.
You know those bastards read AT.
Anybody that says bad things get crap service.
FedEx is more expensive for a reason.

It amazes me folks will spend thousands on computer parts to make hi-performance machines, but dont want to spend extra to make sure they have working parts delivered on time.

For those saying an additional $3 for shipping is no big deal - some of us are used to paying 4 bucks..now $4 isn't /that/ big of a deal - but when you consider that I shipped a strut (yes, a car strut) from FL to CA via Fedex Ground for under $10, you'd think that RAM would be significantly cheaper unless it was overnighted. Heck, even USPS will get it there in 2-3 days for $4.05..albeit not insured.

<- is a fan of USPS Priority for packages under 1lb -- no bad experiences yet.

If you were to remember the days when Newegg had some of the best product prices -- as well as free or low-cost Fedex Express shipping, maybe you'd understand. 😉

I do remember those days. I also understand that even with the higher prices, Newegg still takes better care of me than the others. Sucks that things get more expensive, but as of my shipment last week their customer service hasnt gone down for me.

OR you can just pick FedEx instead of UPS.

If you don't like their prices for FedEx shipping, there's always ZZF.

Well, think about it this way. I choose to spend 4.81 to ship ram instead of 8.04 (which is an f-ing rip-off for freakin ram which weighs a couple ounces at best). How hard should it be to ship ram?! I thought to myself, "How could UPS screw this up?" They found a way, and Newegg will be the ones who ultimately pay, by loss of customers, refunding my shipping charges and hopefully my ram too, and reputation!

Maybe Newegg should get out their little free calculators that they probably offered long ago and see how much they are losing in shipping twice for people RMAing stuff due to UPS drop kicking it into their delivery trucks vs choking down some of the FedEx shipping costs! The heck with UPS! AND the heck with Newegg if they don't get their act together.

Also, you know why UPS is called "BROWN"? Because they sh!t all over your packages...

Even with the crappy UPS shipping, people STILL buy from them in droves. They know damn well most people aren't smart enough to shop at ZZF instead. A few people posting negative threads doesn't hurt Newegg now that it's an 800lb gorilla.

Hi, mr obvious? Am i on the air? first off, i just want to say.. Long time listener, first time caller.

ok, now that we have that out of the way...

You are talking about a $3.23 dollar difference being a ripoff? Are you living in a cardboard box? You can afford the difference. And shipping ram can be harder than you think - not even going into the logistics of shipping it cross-country, ram is very static sensitive and fairly fragile.

Yeah, UPS did screw up big time. Yeah, they suck. But quit complainig if you were too cheap to spend the extra $3 to begin with when you knew they sucked.

Um... Everyone else manages to ship RAM with Fedex for $3... You're saying Newegg has some magical contract with Fedex to provide extra "static protection"? Do they use lead lined boxes? Cocaine is a hell of a drug buddy. And that $3 increase to $8 is a hell of a lot for $20 RAM. Newegg separate shipping = extra profit for Newegg.

UPS.
Covering Less Ground and Slower then ever!

I received my laptop 10 in the morning by fedex and my ram from new egg... has still yet to arrive, its 5:15pm btw. I live in San Diego, I wonder if its just me.
