How much will my insurance go up?

I've been driving safely up until now for about a year maybe a little more than that without any accidents or tickets.

What is it at right now?

Probably up to 300 a month at least

Guess I won't be driving a car for a LONG TIME....

Doesn't seem like it was a horribly bad incident so I don't think insurance will skyrocket.

of course it was wet and my antilock brakes screwed up but oh well, it all worked out just fine...
Bad accident or not.. if there was a claim through insurance and you're at fault, your screwed. Doesn't matter if its $500 claimed or $50,000. That's why when you phone for a quote and they ask if you've been in any accidents.. not "Have you been in any little low prices ooopsie fender-benders?"

Best way to do it if you can and the victim will agree is to just pay out of pocket.

Good luck to both of you though.. I think you're going to need it.

I'd rather be carless than fork over $7,600 to fix some ladies SUV...

So much for buying a Laptop this year... :(

hope your insurance is good, and you're over 21.

I am 19 and my insurance is All-State....

Shouldn't I be worried if I am under 18? Then you only have 6 points on your liscense right :|

Think again, they bend males over as far as rates go until they're 25 years old

The back of her brand new Lexus SUV was all messed up and sratched. Look like the bottom half was out of place and the trunk wouldn't close properly. Spare tire also fell out.

Prepare for teh buttsecks.

Depends on how much it takes to get it fixed and if the cops charge you with anything. I know someone who for a simple rear-end got charged with dangerous driving AND he was doing the speed limit. He found out a couple weeks after the accident.

7600 bucks could be cheaper to pay then pay the increased insurance. Not to mention that if it goes on your record, you will have trouble getting your own insurance, not something under your parents.

Say your insurance rates go up 210 dollars, it will only take you 3 years of that before you reach 7600 dollars, and it will go on for longer then 3 years most likely.

Sue the kites, and the string they're attached to. It's their fault, not yours. You are a victim here.

Exactly!

I started telling the officer in and I looked to the northwest where the kytes where. They where gone. Apparently he looked at them as well and knew there would be a accident...

Why did it have to be me... :|

Yeah, it's going to kill my insurance because I caused about a thousand dollars worth of damage... bullsh!t.

I don't see how putting a new bumper on a 2002 honda odessy van would make me "screwed"...

I'm sure my insurance will go up, but it's not like I totalled her car.

See NuroMancer's post above. It would have been much better to pay out of pocket. A new bumper for that would have about $350, plus a paintjob and install (~$150) - and I'd wager that no matter how little your insurance goes up, if you multiply it by twelve months for the next seven years, it'll be bigger. :p

um. It doesn't matter how much damage was done. It's just considered an "incident".

depending on how old you are... yeah.. you will be screwed.

under 18 == screwed with no lube.
19-21 == screwed with minimal lube
21-24 == screwed with minimal lube but by now you're used to it.
25+ == not such a big deal

It doesn't matter. As everybody said already, it doesn't matter how much $$$ worth of damage you did. You were at fault at an acctident that your insurance company paid out. $500 or $50,000.

Like I said a few days ago, when you call for a quote the insurance co asks you if you've had any accident claims in the past 5 (or whatever) years... NOT how much they're worth.

$2000 damage? It's sad, but espescially for a younger person, that should really be paid out of pocket. It's unfortunate that that's what insurance is for, but that's the way it goes in this day and age.
