I keep receiving old texts that I already got.

I am using Graphene OS on a Pixel 4A 5G and the standard text app in it does not support group texts so I had to find another one. Using QKSMS which does support group chat. The issue is randomly I will start getting bombarded with texts from a conversation that happened days before.

Is there a way to make this stop? It's super annoying. Or is there another text app in the F droid store that I can use that is better and still supports all the basic stuff like group conversations?

Seems like that could be a telco issue. I use qksms, and have no problems, but I don't do group messaging.

This is still happening, I switched to another OS thinking it might be OS related (Was also hoping the stock app would support group texting so I can use it, but it does not so ended up using QKSMS anyway).

Any ideas how to make this stop? It's super annoying and happens at random. Basically it will just randomly start re-playing an old conversation as if it was new texts.

I really don't want to go back on stock android and have all the spy crap built in, but starting to consider it at this point since this is so annoying. This only started happening with this new phone so I don't think it's the carrier or it would be doing it with the old phone too. At one point I switched back to the old phone as I was having issues with reinstalling the OS on this one.

Posted on XDA forums as well as searched but can't find anything. This issue seems to be unique to only me... of course lol. I always get the really weird ones.

what version of android do you use? do you still get security updates still? im with the telco issue but no idea Graphene OS on a Pixel 4A 5G sounds very fancy! you could always pickup a pixel 5 from someone that upgraded to 6 just to test.

I'm on Calyx OS which is based on Android 11. They are working on 12 right now, so maybe when I get that update it will fix this.

I also switched to Signal instead of QKSMS and it still does it there too. (using signal as SMS client and not actual signal service, since everyone I know just uses SMS)

Though it does seem to have slowed down with Signal and it only did it when I had QKSMS still installed so maybe they were conflicting. I deleted QKSMS for now.

Still early to tell though as sometimes I go a week without it happening then it starts happening again. There is one conversation where I got it like 4 times so far. It just replays all the texts from one person in the conversation as if they were new. Makes it really confusing as it looks like a new text at first but it will be completely out of context or make no sense so I go check and sure enough it's an older text.

I wonder if it's an Apple thing. Everybody uses Apple except for me so maybe it's doing weird things like their phones are resending the texts or something. But this only started happening after I upgraded from my DTEK50 phone. It's also not always the same person so can't rule it to only 1 person's phone being acting up.
