This is happening everytime i install software, i do a format of hdd and ya i get this error!!! =/

what i've tried, New PSU, Different MOBO, different OS's, different vid cards.

Constants so far are memory and cpu, only things that havent been changed. But i dont think its memory becuase i have tried the cpu in a sdram p4 motherboard and same errors everytime, so i really dont know what to do. What is a good temp for p4s?

Setup-
Asus P4S533
OCZ pc2100 256mb
Asus Gf3 (only card in system)
TTGI 350 p4 ready psu.

You say this happens every time you install software. What software are you referring to?
Does this occur when installing Windows or does it occur installing other software?

ok, by installing windows is what I meant.

I cant get a fresh install to go in that system.

As for the memory like i mentioned i have tried 2 different motherboards w/ one is sdram and the other is ddr.. so i doubt its memory

What about the drive that you are using to read the media? Have you tried a different CDROM, DVD, CDRW drive?

Have you attempted the install with just the basic set of peripherals, i.e. video card, floppy, cdrom?

only card in the machine is video card, mobo, and cpu.

nothing else.

As for different cdrom drives i'll give that a shot but i have used that cdrom drive to install other things from the past so i dont think that is the problem either.

PS. im running the memory checker.

i've tried installing win2k, winxp, and win98, even winME

all give me errors at the end of the installation.... that is what puzzles me

you might want to test it anyway, it's not like it's going to cost you anything and it does reduce the number of possible bad hardware options. and you may be surprised.
have you tried a different cd reader?
good luck

hi,
mosy likely this is bad ram.
try using memtest to test it.
memtest
good luck

Yeah, I had the same error codes not long ago. I have a SIS645DX based mobo (ECS P4S5A/DX+) and I couldn't install XP Pro on it with the new RAM stick (V-Data 512MB DDR333). However, I narrowed it to the RAM since it had worked fine previously with 256MB Kingston. Exchanged the RAM stick for a Kingmax DDR333, and voilà, everything works again.

Also... Don't run memtest86 to diagnose this kind of problem, it's useless. I ran it for 12 hours (all tests, cache on) with 0 errors, but Windows still didn't install. I think memtest86 is crap now. It can't diagnose even such major issues.
