It's the 7th time today that i get a phone call from the same number and no answer. When i call back, I get a message that says, "This number has been disconnected....This is a recording."

Im from Oregon and i have no ties to texas (or at least i cant think of any), so i can't see why anyone from Texas might be calling me. I guess it might just be me being paranoid. Is there a way i can do a backwards trace to find out who it is that's calling me?

Call the operator. They'll take care of it. That's what they're there for.

It could just be a network problem on a particular number.

Not as funny as the time when a woman speaking a weird language kept leaving messages on my answering machine. Nobody could figure out what it was, not even the linguistics department the university. It sounded like somewhere from eastern europe. She went from calling about once a week, to calling every day. The tone of her voice got angrier and angrier, until she suddenly stopped calling suddenly... :~

Some one may also be using a phone number spoof when calling you.

This is usually due to a sale type call.

it could very well be a credit card scam. check out this thread:

I received similar calls every day, twice a day, from two odd phone #s:

727-541-0001
813-541-0001

when i called those #s, i got a message saying those #s are disconnected. I googled those #s and found out that the folks behind the calls are apparently friggin crooks.
