I keep dozing off while driving.

YES. It sounds like sleep apnea.

Rufio, what kind of treatment did they give you?

CPAP? Continuous Positive Air Pressure, it's a mask that fits over your nose and blows in air to prevent your septum from collapsing, which causes snoring. It's a marriage saver.

How much does this cost?

Stop Driving

Oh, and see a doctor.

My dad uses one of those, it made a HUGE difference when he got it.

I think there's a fair chance I may have it as well, I never, ever feel rested.

GO SEE A DOCTOR. It will save your life.

I used to have several CLOSE CALLS when driving...

But this is what I did. I saw a doctor. I had severe sleep apnea. If I slept for 8 hours, I still would not have reached REM.

So waht did I do? I got a a CPAP machine...the darth vader machine, i call it. I used it, but i hated it.

So I lost some weight. That was a big difference.

Now I don't use a CPAP, and when I sleep, I feel rested!

If you're depriving your body of sleep, it'll make it up no matter where you are.

Get enough sleep - it sounds like you're not sleeping enough or well enough, based on what you're explaining.

Why do people start a thread if they aren't going to follow up with it?

That annoys me.

Yep, best thing to do is pull off and rest. I once fell asleep while driving and woke up to find that i was in the wrong lane and people were swerving to miss me. :Q

Then last year, I was so pissed one day that I just left town... just kept driving. Ended up 350 miles away in the nearest city (I'm in Alaska) and stayed the night... I was falling asleep the WHOLE way there. Luckily (for everyone else) it was during a blizzard and no one was stupid enough to be out on the roads (cept me).

Disorders such as chronic insomnia, sleep apnea and narcolepsy, all of which lead to excessive daytime sleepiness

I think I may have all 3 :(

Good thing I don't drive yet, but I fall alseep in class ALL the time, including the ones that I like.

I was talking to my grandpa the other day and we somehow started talking about it. He said the same thing, except he said to use a $100 bill.

I recommend you chew bubble gum. Chewing bubble gum and eating a jalapeno whenever you start to get sleepy always wakes me up. Also, sing penis along to the music you bring with you and just jam out. You'll look funny to oncoming vehicles while you're jammin' out but it'll keep you awake.

not to be rude, but stop driving, you could seriously harm yourself and others if you dont get yourself checked out and figure what the hell's wrong with you
