The last 20 minutes of the movie i just cried straight. Wow.

For some reason it was that good of a movie. I usually tears here and there on good movies but man....

this movie just make me cried like i'm actually hurt.

Empathy is a powerful force. Good movie, with a darker ending than Spielberg would have done in his youth.

Unlike Lucas, who's entered his second childhood.

This film should have never been released, and thrown to the bottom of the ocean instead.

I liked it too. Though it got a really bad rap. I agree it was really long and drawn out...but..I guess it is personal preference.

*spoilers, don't read bitch*

What I always wondered is if the aliens brought the mom back from the "life stream" did they effectivly erase her from the stream forever since she could only be around for 1 day. If so, serves the bitch right imo.

I also had a problem with the narrator. We hear him once in the beginning and suddenly once in the end? I mean wtf??!!!, couldn't spielberg think of a more creative way to give the audience the info???!!!

overall I give the movie a B-. Kubrick could have done it better... and with more pedophilic overtones :Q

why do you all have negative comments about the movie?

i thought it was good. it's long but it's good.

any movie that bring emotions out of the audience deserve some cred.

dumb movie.

it was mediocre-boardering-on-good until the end of the movie. the ending just killed the entire movie for me... had it ended with him at the bottom of the ocean, that would have been pretty cool.

I felt like the movie tried too hard to pull at my emotions. It didn't just let it happen. I also felt It was too lighthearted, and not dark enough. I applaud the sense of wonderment spielburg gave to the flick, but he sucks with terror and angst. Somthing Kubrick was a master at.

I thought it was a great movie. I didn't like the ending when I saw it in theaters, but I saw it again more recently and thought it wasn't nearly so bad as I remember.

I think it was a good movie up until the part with the whole world freezing over and aliens are using it as a dig site. I mean that doesn't really go with anything. Should've just ended with him in the ocean. It would've made more sense.

I agree.

The last 20 minutes was useless drivel to elicite the exact response that the OP had. Didn't work on me.

OMG, I cannot believe the ignorance here.

Folks, those were NOT aliens at the end. Watch it again and pay attention to the dialogue.

They are very advanced robots. When the humans died out, all that was left was the AI/robots. The AI advanced on it's own and reached a very advanced and self aware state. They were doing archaeological digs to find their past. To them, finding the boy was a link to their past. And the humans are their creators. The boy was a link for them to understand their creators.
