It's quite possible to work your way to that position, too, even from the bottom.

I know what they can make, but they do what they want to do with their store in mind, not the people... they cut hours just so they can make more money, imo thats saddistic, telling people they are going to get plenty of hours and then cutting it just to line their pockets..

ETL's make a decent amount too, but I dont want to work for this company anymore, and besides, based on the PRINCIPLE of the whole thing, Im going to tell the HR all about this, and in the end this guy wouldnt give me a good review anyway..

There have been times I wasn't too happy with Target either. Still, they're infinitely better than Walmart and Kmart in the way they treat their people.

Kmart never offered me payed vacations, a 5% 401K, stock options, or a decent (for my age) wage. From what I hear Walmart doesn't either.

Woo, autopulls are fun.

Gotta love the toy batches that get pulled during Christmas. I worked at a class A store during the Christmas season, many nights we'd pull 3-4 pallets full of just toys. Not to mention the usual big batches (chemicals, health & beauty).

I was much the same way, I ended up being the de facto leader of the back room. I was in charge of making sure all the pulls got closed out, errors, fixed, etc. at the end of the night.

Then I got a job making 50% more, & never looked back.

😀

I was 17 when I left Target, occasionally I've thought about going back. I don't want to work during the day though, the night is where it's at.

I worked in a nursing home for one day and never went back. It was the most depressing day I have experienced. Getting old is tough!

Scotch is what we drink, Scots is who we are.

I worked for this fast food place for a few days, went on my lunch, and never returned or even called to say I quit.

After 6 months of working at target It got to the last straw and I walked off... I said @#$ it..

I used to work in the stockroom at Target also. I simply got sick of me working my ass off while every other emplyee sat around and did nothing (literally). Before I left, not only did I run the ENTIRE elec stocckroom (might not have been a problem at your location, but it was hell on earth at mine), but I was also doing all the sales floor pulls for the entire housewares, clothing, and electronics departments (this was working only 20 hours/week). And what did I get for it? I asked the MOD one evening if I could leave early as they had scheduled too many people for that evening and I needed to study for finals. He, in turn, yelled at me saying that I needed to set my priorities strait blah blah blah. I just left🙂

yeah and thats just the pulls.. I had to backstock like 10-16 pallets of toys by myself on heavy nights, and then backstock what was left from the pulls that didnt go out

Don't you just LOVE the pulls for school supplies during that tinme of the year? hehehe

All this talk of pulls. It's the cashiers that do the real work. 😉

Would you like to get 3 cents off your stick of gum by applying for the TARGET VISA?

lol i worked there a while ago. always cracked me up how the stockroom guys would abuse stuff. like dropping stuff from high up🙂 no skin off their backs.

yea, eventually the place gets on your nerves. i'm not as good as you, i'd never steal, but i did break a few things😛 i'd just think hey, disgruntled workers cost you money.. yea thats the ticket! hehe

and yea cashiering is probably the worst. your back starts to hurt from just standing there.

I HATE cashiering with a passion (and I also am probably the worst cashier in North America).

Thanks, you're right. I don't mention it that much.

Hmm maybe it's because I could use a Scotch with this bad economy 😉

the best jobs i've been part of so far has been telemarketing and working at Panda Express. But that was hs. If I were in your situation, it might be best to seek an on-campus job, especially a TA/lab asistant position. Those pay extremely well, and schools are usually desperate to recruite upp-div students for the job.

Good for you, but almost all retail companies are like that. In terms of promotions - I realized the hard way a while back that you get it in writing or promises mean jack $hit
