Finally upgraded to an Athlon XP 1700+, just ordered from newegg a few minutes go :) this is the FIRST system I have built that wont have to be OC'ed to get the performance I want! I'm very excited.

Cool, I just ordered an 1800+ last Friday after waiting 2 months for the price to come down to a "reasonable" level. I agree with you about the OC bit though. Plus, the little XP buggers are a pain to OC.

Congrats on your new rig.

I just was forced to upgrade too because my Athlon blew up. I also got the 1700XP non OC-ed and the chip is incredible. It is light years faster than my old setup (Athlon Oced to 1.33).

The one I ordered was retail... the OEM is 122$ so I think a 3 year warranty + a decent backup heatsink and fan is definitley worth 10$ (retail 132$)

still in stock.. you're off the hook :D . yeah, that retail seems like a good deal with the extra warrenty/heatsink.. i would have like to goto the XP 1800+ but that $28 jump doesnt seem worth it.. since im going to OC anyways, ill get at least to 1800+ levels with my new setup. :)

yup, the jump to 1800+ is pretty big, the best price/performance I think is the 1700+ right now...

Of course.. upgrading from the celery 550, the 1700+ is going to seem amazing without OCing
