<< Yea, I am worried about how long dell will take to get the stuff to me... last time I ordered something from dell, they took like 3-4 weeks to get a hard drive to me. And having 20 dell boxes in my apartment is going to drive my roommate and girlfriend nuts... I don't know if its worth it considering how much can go wrong. >>

There is huge potential for screw up but there's also huge potential to rake in an easy $2k. It would be a major hassle though, receiving 30 boxes (10 CPUs, 10 monitors, 10 speakers), eBaying all 30 boxes, receiving payments on all, is all that trouble worth $2k to you? Assuming of course Dell ships all 10 to you within a reasonable amount of time.

<< eBay the Dell Dimension 8200 for around $1,250 = FREE 17" LCD display. >>

Bad idea. If you look at the auctions, most contain a display. Be it a flat screen CRT or a flat panel crt.

Although, there are some really dumb people out there.
>>

True and some Dimension 8200's even come with DVD-R drives. However I've seen several completed auctions for similiarly configured 8200's going for at least $1,000

Worse case scenario, you'll pay $200 - $300 for a 17" LCD display.

<< OMG, ROssMAN!!!!!!!! I'm gonna kill ya!!!!!! Somebody please hold on to my nuts before I splash out 1266. >>

That's ok, I get told this frequently. Go ahead and buy it.

I saw the specs on that thing. Not really impressive though. I guess I'll pass. 😀

damn, what will power I have. WOuld have dived head first into such deals. 😀

Don't really need a LCD. Have a Compaq P900, you know how good it is. 🙂

My only motivation was the 17" LCD, I already have 2 computers which suit my needs.

Same here. Glad I don't have $1,266 available on my cc otherwise I'd be in deep trouble.

Yes I know how good it is, my Dell UltraScan P991 (FD Trinitron) has been an awesome monitor - it's just such a BEAST!

I've got like two monitors at home now. I don't know how to offlad them if I get another though. 🙂

I do have 1266 available on my cc but.......imagine the PAIN and AGONY to repay it. That darn thing would be a big hassle to ship once it gets here. 🙂

Yup yup solid monitor you have there. 🙂

Almost same kinda interest. 😀. Except that my 19 inch is a Compaq P900. Not much different from a P991. 😀

You seriously have a P991? Cool.

<< Temptation.

Cliff Notes version: Dell Dimension 8200 + 17" LCD = $1,140 with free shipping, eBay the Dell Dimension 8200 for around $1,250 = FREE 17" LCD display.

After mulling over this for several agonizing hours I realized:
1) I already have a perfectly fuctioning 19" FD Trinitron monitor, what would I do with it? Don't want to auction it, packing & shipping a monitor = not fun.
2) I don't really want to go through the hassle of selling the Dell on eBay and risking the market being over saturated.
3) Most of my cc's are maxed out and I don't have $1,266 available (thank goodness for that!).

Otherwise I'd be the proud owner of a 17" LCD.

Damn Ferengi genes.

Being the proud owner of a 18.1 Sony N-80 LCD, I would never go back to tube 😀

Let me know when LCD monitors are able to play games without ghosting. I think that's the one problem that's holding everyone back from going the LCD route. Prices have finally made them affordable given the quality jump from a CRT (other than the gaming aspect). I have to avoid them until then. 😀

I know people complain about that but I haven't seen a lick of it.

Well I'm both sad and glad that Dell killed this deal.

Wondering if I should feel relieved that I didn't spend $1,140 or regret that I didn't jump on this hot deal.

I had a Dimension 8200 added to my cart last night and now it's gone.

I still have this in my cart, but unfortunately my low credit line won't allow me to purchase it 🙁

Any ideas?

Depending on your income/debts/credit history you could apply for financing with Dell. It was a long shot for me but they approved me for $5,000 worth of credit 2 years ago, so maybe give it a try? Just remember that it will be an inquiry on your credit report and too many of those is BAD!

You can use 2 cc's, so maybe use your cc and cover the rest on another cc or debit/check card?

Maybe they accept checks or money orders?

You can see all your payment options after you proceed to checkout and login.

<< 3/12 UPDATE: The pressure was too great, finally broke down and placed an order. >>

buahahahahahah!

<< my Dell UltraScan P991 (FD Trinitron) has been an awesome monitor - it's just such a BEAST! >>

yeah, i RMA'd mine because of the lower left color spot problem. the new one doesn't have it. 1400x1050@85Hz is awesome.
