I just switched to Cingular from VZ

I just bought a new T637 with Cingular service from Amazon (their basic national service). I read one article on how it was a baby bell, and how it ranks up there with Nextel and Verizon and I thought that was enough.

It hasn't even arrived in the mail yet, and I', reading horror stories about Cingular's coverage, rates, and service. And T-mobile is better?

I have been a customer of Verizon for 1.5 years, and I've had it. Dropped calls, no connections, voice mails coming days later, text message not being sent or received. Maybe its my sh!t samsung phone, but they wont replace it because I didn't buy their insurance. I have not dropped it or anything, but either the phone, or the service, or both suck.

Just wondering how Cingular is for the New York City area. Have I really made a mistake? I can return this to Amazon and go with another provider....

girlfriend is from Queens. Whenever we visit her parents the past few years, the one year we had Tmobile, we could never make a phone call in Queens or Manhattan (drops, no signal, etc). Switched to Verizon and no problems since.

Tmobile - motorola v66 phone

Verizon - LG 4400 if you're curious.

I know you that doesn't help you with Cingular but you had the one Tmobile question in there.

Hmm.... I'm from Boston but travel to New York quite often and haven't had any problems using T-Mobile in Manhattan

I thought tmobile used cingular's backbone... hard to tell.. currently im using cingular.. its not bad.. i mean my friends at&t gsm got worse signal then their cdma stuff..

Its not perfect.. driving down hutch parkway from ct to ny side, i lose signal a few times..

also on i95 too, around the toll plaza..

I would use cingular again but ill see when my contract ends next july

no, supposedly, Cingular uses T-mobiles network on the east coast and T-mobile uses Cingulars network on the westcoast.

I thought T-mobile used cingulars on the east and cingular used t-mobiles. I don't really care either way, but it seems that the coverage with cingular isn't impressive.

Who is second best behind verizon? I have need for a phone that syncs with my powerbook, which eliminates pretty much every phone that verizon has.

Verizon is HORRIBLE. I haven't had internet for months because they fvcking refused to aknowledge the fact that THEIR MODEM DIED - the kept on insisting that it was the router's fault when the router was replaced . . . I had to lie to get the modem.

Anyhow, back to the point - their tech support is the absolute worst I've had to deal with so far, bar none.

I think they are talking about cell phones.

I know, I know, but;

-Their tech service is horrible, and I think if one of their departments suck that much, I don't expect much from the others,

-I needed to vent.
