Hot Deals is like the hooker you visit over and over, spending tons of cash on her, but she never stays the whole night.

Yet we always go back for more. 🙁

Actually, for me, it was the other way around. I watched the hot deals forum for a year or so before I actually signed up. I was there once or twice a week for another year. Then, I discovered ATOT.

there were hot deals back in 2000?

During the dot com boom, companies would just give stuff away. There were tons of deals all over the place. Good times 😀

Remember $0.01 DVDs and FreeRide? AllAdvantage? (I think that's the name of the ad program)

Even after the bust, there were some goodies. I have an HP 4-in-1 Deskjet that retailed for $499. I paid $1.62, including tax and the cost of the stamps on the envelopes for the rebates. That was one of the classics of all time.

And the $799 Dell computer that after rebate, after rebate, after rebate, after rebate, after rebate, after rebate was something like $62 + shipping.

I've almost given up on hot deals... I haven't seen a "hot" deal in a long time. Nothing like the old days when they practically gave you money to take stuff home (after rebates, it was fairly common to actually make money on deals.z0 Coupons were stackable, price-match policies were more lenient, etc. Ahhh, the good 'ol days.

I remember first getting bit by the Hot Deals bug.

Christmas 1998, DVDTalk.com posted 800.com 3 DVD's for $1.

Nearly 8 years later it's still addicting 🙂

I'm sitting here debating on whether or not I want to buy that stinking dell with the 20" LCD. I already have a 2005FPW and I just setup the 2007FP from my sisters new dell next to it. I have no need for another computer though. 🙁 What I really want is a 2405fpw but I'm too cheap to buy it.
