I just started playing RTCW and have a question

Why are the weapons so inaccurate? Is the game trying to be realistic? I've got the machine gun and practically need to empty an entire clip to drop a Nazi unless he's standing close to me. Am I doing something wrong?

More realistic firing in RTCW. Try shooting machine guns in short 3-5 round bursts.

You're just a bad shot. ;)

Later on I think you'll find that the game isn't terribly realistic...

This is dead on. In the real world, a person cannot hold a submachinegun steady and empty a clip. It just isn't possible. The same goes for fully auto rifles. That's why the US military has limited the newer M16s to three round bursts.

RTCW is simply being realistic here.

That said, I hate how all video games make you hit a guy five or six times to drop him. What, are all the enemies on crack and PCP???

There's a fine line between realism and fun.
