I just spent 8 hours at the movie theater

My disposition to homosexuality lies on the same spectrum as is with beastiality. These are things that I don't approve of personally.

what specifically are your objections to bestiality?

I wouldn't consider it a noble lifestyle or practice.

I don't think I will watch it ever...

Agreed, coming from a small (very small) ranching town, this is a kick in the crotch. I can't believe they made a movie like this, it does nothing more than piss me off. This movie is totaly wrong and so messed up. I have nothing against homosexuality, some of the best people I know are homosexual, but why did they have to turn ranching and everything affiliated with it into something that will now just be taken as a joke. People will just laught now. I can't even put into words how stupid that movie is and how pissed off it makes me. :|

You say you cant even believe how stupid the movie is, yet you agree to never see it. I too prolly will never see this movie just not my style (plus I dont see too many movies), but I doubt that people are now going to look at you differently and laugh based on a movie.

I expect people like you would bitch no matter what occupation the gay protagonists had. Despite your "I have nothing against homosexuality," it's obvious that it offends you -- you plainly consider it a stigma. I don't get why your sort tries to preface your condemnations with "I have nothing against homosexuality." If you hate gays, just say you hate gays... jeez. It's the two-facedness that really irritates me.

People don't want the stigma associated with being a homophobe/ racist/ sexist/ whatever. So they preface their bigotry with a disclaimer: "Some of my best friends are <insert disliked minority group here> but <insert bigoted rant here>"

haha, very true 🙂

Its funny becuase people will say the same about your "group" the peopel that go on and on about how there is nothing wrong with homosexuality and how when someone says that they don't like something becuase of something certian (in this case homosexuality) you say blah, blah,blah...why don't you just say that you don't like gays? If I didn't like gays I would say I didn't, the simple fact is that it offends me that they would take one of americas past times and what millions consider their lively hood and turn it into this story about two gays running a ranch together. I don't have anything against gay people, people very close to me in my life have chosen homosexuality and this doesn't bother me one bit. Its when it is portrayed through something that is close to me and I take personal that bothers me. Why don't you ask yourself why they couldnt't give them other occupations and still get the same response and effect the movie had?

Why do they have to have a different job? Because you don't want to affiliated with gays?

even the title makes fun of the movie!!!!!!!

I can't believe you have the mentality of a 13 year old!!!!!!

You don't think people can choose to be straight or gay? Isn't that portrayed in the movie? They part and marry women or something? Is that not making a choice to suppress the feeling(s)?

you better hope they can never ever track it down to genetics because if they do track it down to genetics and can test for it there will be a lot less children born with the gene.

people who object to the fact that homosexuals exist also tend to object to abortion, so they will have some tough decisions to make.

if people like you weren't such bigoted freaks, no one would care. and don't give me that "I have nothing against homosexuality" crap, your post tells us otherwise, even if you can't admit it.

I'm waiting on the parodies. How about bareback mountain?

:Q

That movie doesn't even portray the "sterotypical lifestyle" of a cowboy anyway :disgust:
I wouldn't expect you to know that if you haven't lived the life. I will tell you that cowboys don't sit and talk on the hills and have as much free time as they movie makes you think, if you are going to say that the movie threatens my macho image you couldn't be more wrong, the movie doesn't even touch what real cowboy life is like, which is another reason that it pisses me off.

have you SEEN the movie?

It's not that you dislike gays.. just that you dislike gay cowboys

Brokeback Mountain -

I would have to say the movie isn't really worth all the buzz it's getting. The cinematography was good, set selection was excellent, and Heath and Jake did what they could with the script, but that's about all. I felt the direction was off, the editing was rather sluggish, and the story could have been tightened up a bit. Overall, not a great film by any stretch... I wouldn't even say it was worth cash to see it in the theater.

It just seems to me that the movie gains so much momentum because people that avidly support homosexuality are excited to see the subject matter in this movie, so they rave about how great it is. Anyone who opposes that is shot down as a gay basher. It's such a controversial subject, I have a hard time believing anyone is taking this movie for what it really is... a rather mediocre love story.

I realize this is impossible for trendy PC zealots like you to accept, but there ARE more than two opinions on every issue (ie, yours being the "right" one, and the other being the redneck one). I can dislike Brokedick Mountain as much as I want without it making me a homophobe. I hated Legally Blond without seeing it, so I guess I'm a misogynist? If Brokedick was a hetero western love story, I'd still think it ridiculous, because when it comes to cowboy films, I like Eastwood, Tombstone, and Silverado, but generally don't like the rest. Is that ok with you, Mr. Everyone-Who-Doesn't-Agree-With-Me-Is-A-Bigot?

I'm sure if I saw Brokedick today and came back to report it sucks as bad as I assume it does, you'd still find some way to spin it to fit your narrow view of the world. The poster you attacked even made sure to say he has nothing against gays but disliked the movie for other reasons, probably so self-righteous crusaders like you could forego the usual cry-baby act, and you still took offense because his opinion didn't match yours...so whos the bigot here, him for judging the film or YOU for judging him?

If those reasons had involved seeing the movie, he might not be getting slammed.
