I just signed up for more shifts now I'm working from 9-5 7 days a week.

The reason being that i'm trying to make as much money as possible before school starts in fall. Has anyone else done this before? If so, any tips?

Pros:
Money for savings.
Cool things I bought (GE AC, Exec leather chair, cellphone, Seagate 320 HDD 16mb, all which i found for cheap thanks to hot deals sec, and fatwallet forums)

Cons:
Working from 9-5

Sum:
Not a bad way to get some cool things that i want.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I'm not really looking forward to fall semester because I'm taking some advance chemisty & psych courses on top of that I'll be working.

9-5 is EASY. even 7 days a week.





Right now I work from sunday 3pm-10:30, monday 9:30am-10:30pm, tuesday 9:30am-10:30pm, wednesday off, and thursday it starts over

I worked as much as possible during summers in college. It's nice to have money saved so you can work less during the semester. I would definitely suggest some partying at night to make your life seem less like work. Otherwise if your work is open early or late just work long days and take a day or two off. I did a 7~7 mon-fri one summer. 60 hours a week but weekends off so it wasn't too bad.

Working 7 days a week in most cases just isn't worth it. I'll never do it again. When I was 16 the entire summer I worked at Sea World from 8 AM - 10 PM with 2 1 hr brakes Tuesday - Sunday, only Monday off. I'd say about 80% of the time it sucked, but the other 20% was some of the most fun I ever had in my life.

Not having a day off SUCKS.

For a few weeks over Winter Break I was working 70 hour weeks between 2 jobs with no days off. Wound up calling in sick for a single day at both jobs and it was by far the best vacation day I have ever taken.

it will catch up to you, but if it's only short term, then it's probably doable. still, it depends on what line of work you're in.

I work at the department of information tech and telecommunication for ny and we get some irate people calling us but it can also be satsifying at the end of the day as well. Atleast I'm not standing on me feet for hours like I use to when I worked at Best Buy during HS whoring out extended warranty to people waiting online.

dealing with people is stressful enough. dealing with people and their problems can be very taxing. how long are you doing it for? under 3 months, i've done it in the past. the OT was really sweet.

Under 2 months, not to long just to classes start then I'm back to fri-sun shift schedule.

I did something similiar this summer. Working many hours and 6-7 days a week. I'm taking a couple weeks off before school starts so I can have a life again. I was working out of town so I stayed in a hotel room all summer with nothing to do, it was boring as hell

I used to work 10 hours a day 6 days a week, with no overtime. thats your hours plus a half day.
