I just got off the phone with the cops. They should be here shortly.
 on the house for being a good samaritan and doing the right thing. Just because there is no apparent damage to something doesn't mean there is no damage. Someone hit my moms Minivan (hit and run in a temple parking lot) back in the late 90's. The only visible damage was that the front bumper was coming off (we didn't notice that before we got into the car, because we didn't need to go in front of it to get in) but the chassis was bent like you wouldn't believe, and made driving impossible with the car until it was repaired. To make a long story short, after my parents found out who did it (a combination of witnesses, and the paint color left on the bumper), he had a nice conversation with the wife (who hit the car) and husband at the top of his lungs. Yelling definitely gets people to confess to something, especially when the paint on your bumper matches theirs, and they have your paint on their bumper.

clarify please...sounds like a 3-some marriage

My father had a nice conversation with the family who hit my mom's car. The wife of that family hit the car, and the husband didn't know about it until my father started yelling. My mother, and I were in our car outside or that families house, and could here my dad yelling. My dad is the nicest person you could meet when it comes to helping someone out (he will go out of his way to help someone that asks), but you fvck with him (in this case, hit and run; in other cases stealing things), and he blows a head gasket.

Good that you found the person. I'll never know who nailed my car when I was at work, other than it was someone in a lifted, very muddy truck. I had to pay $500 out of pocket for my deductible (which is a LOT when you're working PT making $7.35/hr). That little incident pretty neatly offset 3 weeks of work :(. There were a number of customers in the lot who saw it (I'm sure one of them got the plate) but nobody came in and reported it.
I think the reason we found the person ended up being out of luck. One of the people who saw it happen, happened to be a friend of my parents, so he knew it was our car that got hit, and remembered which car hit it.

The guy probably had a reason and if he didn't, insurance is here for a reason.

Got every other detail and that one, even though it was dark out. I think the poster actually was the one hit the bmw and trying to blame it on asian Gang Wars. Them Asian guys will probable kung fu your azz, and send some lead flying, when they find this thread.
:D

Oh noes! I've been found out! You'll never take me alive!

btw, what if the guy in the BMW did something to deserve this? not that i advocate revenge. it just seems unlikely that some guy would randomly pick a car and start damaging it for no reason.

keying a car is one thing, but hitting it repeatedly sounds like he had a vendetta.

I think that was implied by the act. It is still wrong, and should be reported to the police; just as if the owner of the BMW did something, then the person in the van could have gone to the police.

Saying "maybe he did something to deserve it" isn't a valid reason for non-reporting.

Hey guys, I witnessed a murder last night, but I don't think I'm going to report it. I mean, it probably wasn't random, he probably was just looking for revenge.

oh, don't get me wrong...i think he should have reported it, but the poll answer "Yes, this guy is a total ass" is kind of unfair.

Some insurance companies won't pay up if the conduct is intentional, matters what kind of policy it is. So he might have no insurance to pay this, sure does sound intentional.

What if the BMW driver boned the other dudes wife or something? Can you go to the police for that?

Really?? My point... was that there is not always legal recourse to cover every problem. Someone can shaft you (no pun intended) within the boundaries of the law and there's nothing you can do about it. That was just the first example that popped to mind. The "go to the police" answer is not a catch all.

Not that bashing into another persons car is a good idea of course.
