LOTR is easily one of the best movies I've ever seen, I would rank it in the top 5. For a long time I avoided this movie, for some reason I expected the film to be kind of cheesey and not believable. I'm glad to say that I was wrong, this movie surpassed my every expectation. From the opening scene to the conclusion I was literally drawn into the picture, I felt like I was actually there walking next to Frodo.

I'm a big fan of fantasy novels, I've probably read hundreds of those type of books over the years. LOTR in my opinion perfectly visualized the feel of those fantasy paperbacks. In particular the scene of where Frodo and his companions enter the city to meet up at the Prancing Unicorn, (I think that was the name) I thought that particular part of the movie really established the mood of a good fantasy story. However my favorite scenes in the movie involved the journey through the dwarf mines and the elf queen. Literally every 3 or 4 minutes I kept whispering to myself "this is amazing".

All in all I have to say that the Lord Of The Rings was the most entertaining movie I've ever watched. It managed to draw me into the story like no other film, not even Star Wars has had this type of effect on me. My only concern is when is the sequel due to hit the theatres?

Now the only other thing for me to do is to watch the Harry Potter movie

Its honestly a good movie, in fact my wife even liked it. We had originally went to see the movie High Crimes with Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd, but the brain dead theatre employee gave us tickets to LOTR by mistake. The bad thing is that we did'nt even realize we had the wrong tickets until the movie started. Initially my wife was pissed but 30 minutes into the movie I looked over at her and she was completely into the story and she generally does'nt like those type of movies.

Have you read LOTR? If you haven't, I can honestly say you're missing out on the very best fastasy fiction ever written.

I have never installed Windows ME on a PC and don't plan on ever doing so either.

Sorry, just felt the sudden urge to post some crap in the thread that doesn't belong there.

P.S. I don't like a lot of stuff, that doesn't mean I post in every thread about those subjects to show my dislike. (Just in about half of them)
[/offtopic]

To Arkitech: Should have watched Harry Potter first, it was an OK movie until I had FOTR to compare it with.

I simply said I havent seen the movie and have no plans to do so anytime soon. What the hell is wrong with me posting my opinion? So that makes you better than me since you only post in half the threads that contain info/items you dislike?

Sorry for my attitude it has been a long day already.:)

I saw it for the second time yesterday and got to see the preview for the Two Towers and I have now come to the conclusion that Peter Jackson should be beaten. This time around I noticed even more stuff he screwed up and the preview shows it is only going to get worse. Maybe the next time someone tries to make a movie out of it they will get it right. Third times the charm right? :|:|

I am just not a big fan of Sci Fi/Fantasy. I have never seen Star Wars or any other movie/television show related to Sci Fi/Fantasy in that way. I have no idea why, but I just don't enjoy them.

I avoided seeing it because I didn't want to be in the presence of all those No Life Losers who dress up liike Frodo, Dildo and Gandalf. I'm afraid I'd lose it and kill a couple or those mutant Dweebs and end up in prison for doing the world a huge favor.

I didn't see any of those type of people. Go to a showing during daylight hours and they won't be there.

Arkitech,

Here are a few things I didn't like.

Glorfindel was removed from it. Arwen was given too big of a part. The existance of Palantir of Orthanc is known about already. Thorongil is not carrying Anduril nor has it even been reforged. Iarwin Ben-adar is not mentioned at all. The way Frodo left the Shire and traveled to Bree is totally messed up. Curunir was shown to be in closer allegiance with Sauron. The Uruk-Hai were shown to be bred by Sharkey. That scrawny Sean Bean should not have played Boromir. Olorin does not have Shadowfax yet. From the preview of the second movie I can already see that Arwen's role gets even bigger even though in the book she was only mentioned in passing. Eowyn does not look like she is much of a warrior and I get the feeling her part will be greatly reduced or probably usurped by Arwen even though she is the one in the book that kills the Witch King of Angmar.

I probably read this series at least every couple years because I love the story so much. The first movie that was made although way, way, way too short at least stayed much closer to the original story.

I didn't even dress up for Rocky Horror when I used to go every weekend in my teens. I may like to act like an ass at times but I will not dress like one.

I have'nt read the book in years, I think I'll pick it up again. Sounds like there were a lot of inconsistencies, on the upside though I thought the visuals were outstanding.

Yeah. We know. You've told us. Everyone who keeps saying this can stop, because the LOTR fans really don't give a crap.

While it didn't stick to the original story perfectly(what upset me the most is the exclusion of Tom Bombadil), I loved the movie, it kicked mucho a$$.

If all you do is look for faults, you'll never be satisfied, and that kinds calls for a "Get a life!".

Yakko, I agree strongly with one of your points.

Even though I thought the movie stayed fairly close to the books, it really bothered me how big a role Arwen (Liv Tyler) played. I guess when you cross a large-mouthed bass and a human, you have to put it at center stage.

Come to think of it, we're lucky that Hollywood didn't end up making Frodo kill Sauron, sue Gandalf for height discrimination, and sell the ring to buy a yacht.
