Just got back from seeing Les Miserables with a good friend. If anyone lives in SoCal and can get tickets, I HIGHLY recommend going to see it. Its playing through this Sunday. Awesome....just awesome.

Orange Country Performing Arts Center. OCPAC.org

Maybe was more awesome becuase of the company I was with and my love of Hugo's writing (and Hoffman's translation of it...). The cast was quite good here. Miss Saigon was nice, really liked the whole story alot.

Oh yeah, I'll never forget it. The music is simply breath taking..and watching it in production just gave me a whole new apprecation for it. Now I simply cannot go a full day without listening to the music from there.

It's definitely not something for everyone though..

Les Mis was a MUCH better production. The music was arguably better, but the story line was MUCH deeper and more complex. Miss Saign was a bit too simple for me.

This coming from someone who absolutely adores Lea Salonga, the original "Kim", and has more songs by her than anyone else on my MP3 list :)

I feel asleep midway through Miss Saigon. Dunno if it was boring or if it was because it was like 11PM.

One Day More! is definitely my favorite song from there though. Every time I hear it I just want to stand up and applaud like crazy.

I'm jealous, my sister saw it 3x, and has the CDs for it, so I know every song by heart, but have yet to see it. :( I think I'll add that to a goal in my life, must go see Les Mis!

I also saw Les Miserables in NYC... It was about 3 1/2 years ago, though. I was very impressed. The music made it for me.

I also saw Phantom of the Opera while I was there... Scoff. Crappy crappy. Les Mis was a lot better.

You all keep saying the music is great. And I agree. We played selections of it for one of the marching band shows in high school. I've not actually seen the musical, though. I should do that if I have a chance sometime. I really enjoyed playing that show.

I am told the book is even better. For the record, I have seen it twice on Broadway, loved it both times. It is definitely one of the better storylines in a play and the music is very good.

It's my favorite musical. It's coming to Denver at the end of May. Had to wait on hold for two hours to get tickets. Great show!

I tried to browse through the book a bit..it wasn't quite as "spiritual" as the musical. Like for instance at the end you don't have Fantine and Eponine returning from the dead and being with Valjean.

But it was funny reading some of the quotes from the book because as I read it I would sort of sing it out in my head..

By far my favorite musical.

Is it still playing on Broadway? I read the final curtain was supposed to be last month. :(

Saw it last month - had to buy the CD on the way out the door - $50 but well worth it in my eyes.

I played in the pit orchestra for a professional production of the show. As such I've gotten really sick of it, as you can imagine (2 shows a day for god knows how long). But yeah, it is a wonderful show, I was really excited about that gig.
