I just saw Cloverfield

A good friend of mine who has sort of similar taste in movies, told me it was horrible so I never saw it. I've heard mixed reviews about it and might rent it at somepoint just to check it out.

I liked it. Like a few said, you had to think about the events as it happened to understand it instead of just being "spoon fed" everything.

Although, I thought the first 10-20 mins of it where unnecessary.

Yes, the intro took far too long. I guess we were supposed to care about the characters, but it didn't work on me.

I know JJ Abrams' usual style is to raise more questions than answers, but I was disappointed that there were *zero* answers at the end. We still have no idea what that thing was, or why it came to NY, or why it hated humans so much.

Meh.

sometimes its just a cop out. he has no answers which is why he chooses this "style". people who got shafted watching alias already know this.

You certainly are not alone, I was about to fall asleep during the first 20 minutes of the movie where its all talking. I turned the movie off after about 45 minutes in I was so bored.
