I just saved over $600 by switching to Ameriprise

Has anyone ever dealt with Ameriprise (Costco insurance)? I've been with Progressive for well over 5 years now and recently bought a new to me car. For shits and giggles I decided to shop around for insurance, through Geico and Costco.

Rate with Progressive: $1070 every six months
Rate with Ameriprise: $470 every six months.

Progressive was pissed. There's no way they could touch the Ameriprise rate.

me and the wife went from Geico to Esurance and saved $200+ every 6 motnhs and that includes having better coverage for all 3 cars/truck.

The costco insurance was higher then Geico.

Cheaper isn't always better. A while back I switched to state farm to save a few $ only to have them drop me later for no reason. Since then i've been with allstate and couldn't be happier.

I am on Geico and have been for a few years now. Their rates were so great and have not gone up that I doubt I'd get a better deal anywhere else. I did look at Progressive (even had them at one point), but their rates have always been downright shameful. They are way, way overpriced.

My progressive rate is $280 for 6 months, full coverage, 2003 Taurus.

Thats what me and my wife thought. We called maybe 3 before I tried Esurance and they were over $200 cheaper per 6 months and we added full coverage to our old truck that we only had libality before.

Its good to check at least 3 places every 6 months. You never know.

Give us some details to that rate. like are you married, age, how many cars, what kind of car, etc.

I'm currently with progressive, as for us they were the cheapest when we shopped around about 2 years ago. We got 3 vehicles, a 94 small truck, 01 minivan, and an 06 truck, and pay 600 something every six months. I checked around for prices six months ago and they were still the cheapest, I just reupped this past month and didn't check rates.

KK,

Single, one infraction, 2003 Element EX 4wd
Bodily: $100,00 per person/$300,000 per accident
Property damage: $100,000
Comp deductible: $100.00
Collision: $250.00

Geico was slightly competitive with the rates but being an executive member I received free towing and road side assistance.

that is the intro rate. wait s ix months and you will see a rate increase for no reason. Same thing I did with Liberty mutual and Progressive. Liberty gave me $170/month for a year....Progressive, they gave me $340 for 6 months. I am eagerly awaiting the increase.

OK? Then change to someone else in 6 months. If Esurance tries to go up to much then we will move to someone else. I always call 3 places every 6 months anyways. Takes less then 1/2 a hour and some are done online now.

Easy for you, but MA does not give much of a choice. Lots of the companies are still in fixed price mode.

I was with Progressive for years and years as well. This year I switched to Geico and my monthly bill was reduced by about 70% (no joke!). I am getting the exact same coverage levels with Geico as well.

You have to keep shopping. I'll probably shop around some this summer again. Its weird, progressive used to be the cheapest for me...then after I got married, my tickets went away and I turned 25 all at the same time rates barely went down. I checked geico and it was way cheaper then so I switched. But Geico crawled up a few dollars last renewal time for no apparent reason. (I would think it would go down as my full covered cars value went down.)

Bumping this cause I'm in need of getting insurance. I've had AAA all my life and pay roughly $240 a month for my '03 Accord. Any other companies out there besides the ones mentioned here? I got quoted $480 a month from Geico and $330 a month from Progressive if I were to get an '08 EVO GSR. Geico is more than the car payment :Q. Clean record too.. good god.

I'll have to look at Ameriprise.

I found a '08 EVO with SSS and Nav packages for $32k.. and 0% financing for 60 months, which has prompted me to look for insurance.

Try Esurance and look in the phone book for insurance brokers and try 1.

Sigh* cheapest I can find is $1500 for 6 months. Being 19 and a male puts you in the shitter. I haven't even gotten so much as a scrape in all my years of driving.

QFT. I've given up trying to figure out how insurers charge and found the best practice is to jump insurers every 2-3 years. I may stop jumping for a while though, I seem to have found the perfect combo of low rates and superb customer service from Liberty Mutual.
