so awhile ago my powersupply seemed to die ,see thread

Text

and i RMA'd it and i just got my new one today. i installed it in and connected everything but it does exactly what it did before, as i mentioned in the previous thread.......

"i notice now that once the power supply is turned on and i press the front button first, the fans slightly "jolt" for a split second [spin a little], and the light on the motherboard comes on and stays on. subsequently pressing the power button again does nothing [not more jolts, it has to be turned off and on again at the back]. "

i'm really out of ideas. i tried resetting the cmos, nothing. i am thinking a brand new power supply couldnt be faulty, could it be the motherboard? but the light on the motherboard still comes on :( cpu?

if anyone has any ideas of what it could be please let me know, i'm tempted to shop for a new motherboard :(

-thanks

well at least the technology is 2 years old so a replacement will be cheapish

if it was the graphics card it would likely make beeps right? it does not

Do you have a spare motherboard to try your cpu on? It might be the cpu that's the cause. And what are your system specs?
