I just realized why babies and children work so well with iPads.

Yes, Apple products thrive on stupidity and people that are simply unwilling to learn few little things.

And they also work well for those that are willing to learn/even techys etc.

More power to Apple (is what I say)

My two year old gets around pretty well on my ICS tablet. She can navigate, launch the games she wants, and play them. She's been doing this for a while now, so I don't know if it's just iPads or tablets in general...

By letting your two year old play with such gadgets you are retarding her mental development. GOOD JOB. 😡

To an extent. I think these devices are good as long as they are limited.

Hour or so a day is fine.

NOTHING is good when taken to extreme. EVER

But in general, anything beyond that and yes, you are creating a new Apple customer for life (and they will love you for that).

i side with the babies and children.

Why isn't all TVs like an Ipad? Why can't I do touch screen on those??? I like how little children ask if the TV is broken after they wiped their dirty hands all over it.

Disagree. There is a folder just for her with educational games and apps installed. She has learned some letters, numbers, colors, animals, vehicles, sounds, scenery, matching, etc... She isn't sitting there playing mindless games for hours on end.

Have you taken a look at the vast variety of educational software available on tablets? There is so much out there. My daughter is pretty advanced for her age (she will be two in mid December), but she can do so many things and has been completely potty trained for a couple of months now (I won't go as far as attributing that milestone to a tablet of course, I will take complete credit for that myself. (Well, and maybe my wife and daughter deserve a little as well.)) 🙂

Babies and children have small fingers, so I would agree that most of the on screen keyboards on smart phones are designed for babies and children. But, I don't know about the ipad as I have not used one.

Apple's never claimed to make things harder.

I don't feel that children should be using these devices. Nothing wrong with a book, toys, or other types of learning.
