It just dawned on me today while I was driving on the freeway that I am going to turn 20 in 6 months. This realization lead me to feel rather discouraged... Do I have anything to look forward to in the upcoming years or have I pissed the best time of my life away?

lol, I remember when i was 19 and had my early-life crisis. 20 is just the beginning of it all.. Wait until you get my age and then you can get upset about being old.

Wait until you tell a child, when asked why, "because I said so" and I'm only 22 . . . :(:(:(

(BTW, I don't have kids, but I teach)

(BTW, I always catch myself doing that and explain "why" to them too)

I just turned 20, and for a few days I thought the same thing. As you start to associate with coworkers twice/thrice your age, you begin to realize exactly how short youth is. Your life is so much longer than your teen years! Just because you're in college or grad school or working a job doesn't mean you can't enjoy it, doesn't mean you can't go to concerts and parties and spend weekends having fun with friends. However, your focus will probably change a bit and so will your goals.

Enjoy life, my friend, it is far too precious to waste with worry.

I'd say the breaking point for when you consider yourself old is when you cross the median age of those around you.

20 isn't even close.

You have 21 to look forward to. After that there's nothing.
