Fellow AnandTechers,
My name's Matt. I have always been a nerd, a geek, but not so much in the past couple of years. My friends are nerds. They directed me to AnandTech and doing SETI research on my computer. I have been here for a while.
I used to do a lot. Everyday. I would draw, paint, sing, act, play bass, piano, hang out with people, write stories....
I was an All-State vocalist. I've won awards for my art. I was in a band. I had lots of friends, still do. Pretty happy camper.
In the past four months or so I have been depressed. My back hurts. My body aches. I don't play piano anymore. I don't sing. I don't draw, aside from class assignments. No painting. No bass playing. My life has become systematic and repetitive. The majority of my time has been spent sitting in the dark of my dorm room reading posts and neffing. I assure you, MODs who gleefully lock many of my threads, this is no Nef. But you are all powerful. You can lock it if you want. I'm just posting my opinions and feelings. It's the most truthful I have been in any of my posts.
I have realized today how much I have changed. I need to stop. I need to be productive and do what I am good at, and what makes me happy. You all have been welcoming, and friendly. But I would rather establish real physical relationships with people at this stage in my life. Thanks for everything. You guys are all right. I appreciate all the help you have given me, but I'm not going to be around much more.
I'm not playing the sympathy card. I'm half hoping someone else might realize how much time they spend here, and maybe take an hour break and do something else.
Right now I'm going to go play the piano. Hope you'll hear from me again. Only not from a post on AnandTech.
