I just read this article on the Downloading Movies

<< Studios hope to prevent a movie 'Napster' from taking hold
>>

😕 it already has "taken hold"...what movie do you want? I'll go get it right now.

yeah, the thing is that there is no movie "Napster" all types of programs are in the use of sharing movies. Hotline, IRC, CuteMX, all file sharing programs are doing it, I think the only way they can stop us from downloading is by doing the cease and dessist (something like that) to our ISPs. I hope my RR ISP won't comply 😉

Majestic Moose, edit your post, this is discussion only, i don't want the Anti-Free Entertainment Mod to lock it 😉

most all movies in the theatre are "telesynced" (camera at theatre) or "screeners" a device that does a decent copy off the film. and released
0 days after the movie hits the streets. Many are pre-releases.

many come from overseas and have subtitles in different languages.

FTPs, Direct Connect, etc.

I usually download a Divx rip of a movie before purchasing the DVD to see if I like it (if I haven't seen it yet)...and I buy a helluva lot of DVDs now....one coulds say i buy MORE DVDs because of this.

There was a similar article in this month's Premiere magazine. Personally I think the battle over copyrighted materials is very similar to the drug war that we continue to fight...there's always going to be a demand, and the issue should not be eliminating the supply, because as it's said, When there's a will, there's a way -- there will always be someone providing something as long as there's "market" value for it. The MPAA and RIAA and the other media companies should try to take advantage of this new way of transmitting movies over the internet. Just my opinion.

you know better than ask for warez here.. 🙂

vcd's are typically 2 cd's (400-600 megs each) you pretty much have to have a fast zite to get them.

<< Ever heard of the newsgroups??? >>

ROTFLMAO!!! That would be the very last place I would look. You people try waaaay tooo hard to get movies..

actually urbantechie, newsgroups rock..esp. if your ISP hosts them, and you have a fast connection to them. You don't hafta worry about them getting deleted all of a sudden, and you will get a good speed on download with them.
