<< I've been awfully tempted to say "Eff this, eff you, I'm outta here!" & walk out the door, but the fact that I have bills to pay & I really need a job keeps me there. >>

Exactly how I feel these days.

Which Pizza Hut is this? I will make sure to take a visit one day to give some hard time to that manager dude.

BTW, mztykal, I told you this before and I will tell you again. You're one patient dude.

<< you probably should have wired yourself and taped some of his lousy behavior:p >>

I actually considered doing that before in several occasions, but it makes it look like I set them up.

It's so easy with my iPAQ so handy. :)

That, my friend was what's called being abused. Glad you had enough dignity to stand up for yourself. I expect that they won't give you the best reference either, so you might just consider not listing that place on your next job app. :)

I find your story rather upsetting. Walking away and leaving it at that will make your boss a winner. You owe it to your fellow employees and even to Pizza Hut to report that guy to higher management. This should be done in a professional and uninflamitory way stating the exact treatment you received with the advise that that branch of their business will doubtless suffer both from employee moral problems, potential law suits, and the possibility that customers may also sense the bad vibes at that place of business and stay away. Loosers like that guy tend to pull everybody down with them.

This is the second time as I've probably stated that I wanted to quit. THe first time he kept harrassing me till I was like fvck this, you're gonna show me no respect, I'm not gonna show you none. And it's been alright since. But till today. I'm sorry but I don't pick up sh*t you threw on the ground at the snap of your fingers.

I'd rather tell you to fvck yourself. :(

I think you should go back to work and shove his ass in a pizza oven... I'm not kidding.

as much as im anti- spur of hte moment quittings as usually its regretted later...

jobs like that are a dime a dozen and your self respect is worth a lot more than some pizza-hut supervisor on an ego trip.

*kat. <-- happy for you.

Well, if it's any consolation I quit a $150,000 (USD equivalent) package pretty much in the manner that you describe - and you know what, it was pretty much the same job. Take sh*t from your superiors, play petty politics with your coworkers and abuse your customers...

I've never looked back. Now I deal the sh*t :D

Go get smartened up, polish your CV, pile on the BS and get a decent job!

What you should have done was slammed his face into the barrel of unwashed dishes then kicked the ever loving sh|t out of him. ;)

I'll bet you were fantasizing that very same thought when he was standing there ridiculing you.

I had a similar thing happen at work once. I signed a pile of checks, then they go to different supervisors depending what day was their turn to co sign them. So I looked at the schedule, and put the pile of checks on this guys desk. He was on the phone so he didn't aknowledge me. I go back to my desk, doing my thing...and he comes over and throws the pile back at me spewing them all over the floor!

I just left them there. My supervisor was watching the whole thing and she picked them up. "Whatever"

Good for you for having some self respect and quitting. The sad thing is, as long as the store is making money, the asst. manager probably isn't in any danger of losing his job, but definitely write a calm, professional letter explaining what happened and send copies all the way up the ladder in Pizza Hut. I feel bad for your friends still working for the pr*ck.

Like eakers said, most times spur of the moment decisions to quit are not the best, however in this situation I think it was justified.

Actually writing a letter to the owner detailing the situation would be doing the owner a favor. Your choice.

Sounds like you'll have no problem finding another job. Just don't go into too much graphic detail during your next interview. Employers don't like hearing a potential applicant berating their former employers.

Dignity has nothing to do with it. If that happened to me, i would have given him the "huh?" look and raised my hand waiving the birdy.

Not sure how old you are, but don't ever work at Pizza Hut or any fast food joint, have a little respect for yourself, learn something, and get a real job.

I think he's just a teen living at home. Pizza delivery can be surprisingly good money in the right area, especially for a teenager. Sounds like working for PH is suck though. Not all restaurants are that bad. Try any non-corporate/franchise place. Managers and owners at a successful independent restaurant know to treat employees with respect because it all reflects back upon them in quality and service.

I think you handled that admirably, mztykal. I really hope you find a better job right away. No manager has the right to treat people like that.

get that toad fired. Be very calm and civil and document what you have just said. Send the written complaint to you ex-manager and cc it to the company pres and vp. My friend use to work at the one in Kaimuki (above 10th Ave) before it closed and his coworkers would spit in the food (and occassionally worse) :|

<< I just did all the dishes and left. Walked out quietly, told a few co-workers goodbye and left. Nothing more nothing less. Tomorrow I'm supposed to close and it's the Super Bowl, we get slammed on that day. >>

Now you know what you do, you go in during half time or something and laugh your ass off at your old manager. If he's not there, talk to the manager that is about what happened. Either way, make them miss you ;)

I have several friends who have/do work at pizza huts. They seem to attract alot of @ssholes like your boss. After seeing what they went through wish various employees/supervisors, i wouldn't wish that job on anyone. That said, the lady in charge was actually very nice, but it doesn't make up for the other crap.
